lololol, it's not Euro. Thats what the previous owner advertised it as :homme:

Anyhooo, Cupra has gone to a new home in Derby and I now own a mk4 Golf.

I do plan on keeping this one

Spec:

Lowered on FK coilovers
Stupid Dotz alloys
De-Badged grill
De-Wipered
R-Line Bonnet Bra
7" Tounch screen unit thing
Hidden exhaust system
Fusion boot build / Halfrauds system :p

Pics:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/Tom_Lad/Golf%20GTI%2020/2263800-2.jpg

Sorry about the bad pics, these were from the last owner.

Plans:

Sell / Swap the alloys*

Sell / Swap the Induction kit*

Sell / Swap the Exhaust system*

Armrest

Front Anti Roll Bar

*I'm just after a standard engine, not arsed about performance :)

The ride is SOO much more comfy than the cupra and the seats (even though they not recaro) are alot better :)

It's not the slowest of cars but it's not fast compared to the Cupra.

what sort of look are you going for with the new wheels/exhaust? not really a fan of mk4 golfs always thought they were very boring and the worst of the golf range BUT there have been quite a few that have changed my mind about them, when i first read the spec list and saw dotz alloys i was expecting some thing much worse than what is on there, i dont mind them too much and im always a fan of a hidden exhaust, probably a bit biased though lol

New exhaust will be standard one or a performance one thats quiet :p

Wheels, not sure yet tbh. Would like something OEM for now like the RS4 wheels or possible the Scirocco wheels. The wheels are not aweful and i can wait to change them :)

I love the shape of the mk4 Golf, don't know why...just do :)

EDIT:

i like the alloys you get on the mk5 limited edition golfs
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo16/jeffchiz/Volkswagen_Golf_GTI_Malaysia_Special_Edition_1.jpg

on my saxo ive got a supersprint center section with a oem hidden back box, thats very quite considering its a straight through pipe

Some guy has them on his Bora in my area and im not keen :p

So i might have to change the back boc to standard and it will be quiet, will try it :)

i think you may struggle with scricco wheels as they will be 5 x 112 and mk4s are 5 x 100 so you will need the hub kits which will lower the offset down to around et13ish. i ran et25 on front and scrubbed like hell on every bump, and ran et15 on back and did same, but mine were 9js, will look good when alloys are off :y:

Defo get shot of those distasteful alloys lol

Don't bolf it. Does my head in when people do that. Want a Bora front end, buy a Bora lol.

Ye go for a 1.8T, you can pick loads up these days with a stage 1 map and some nice mods :y:

Before you get one, sign into a Golf forum and see if anyone in your area has a VAG COM and ask if they dont mind you borrowing it or them coming with you to test the car for fauls.

Main problems with 1.8t are MAF, N75 Valve, Coilpack. (cheap apart from the coilpack)

There is a massive thread on uk-mkivs.net about buying a golf and the common problems :)

Need some opinions people on what to do about my wheels!

I know they are Dotz and people class them as chav, but im growing on them

The one thing i dont like about them is the black inbetween the spokes.

What do people reckon to resraying them all silver? or Gold? Leaving the dish polished?

I know, being different in the mk4 Golf world is very very pricey :n:

Yes thats the one that allows you to go low low, the other cheap option is the remove the ARB all together ;)

My mate has a MK4 and i have said to him to just remove the ARB because he is tight, but he seems to think the car will kill him. But it is ok to remove it isn't it? (obviously not the ideal thing to do though)

Everyone underestimates R32's! Yes you may be able to go faster for less but there is something about the R32. The sound for one is awesome, you hardly see them about which is a good thing imo, they turn heads ALL the time.

I've got a secret love for R32's so my opinion is biast but i'd never follow the crowd and get an EP3 or Leon Cupra R's etc over an R32, not saying they aren't good cars because they are - i'd just prefer to get something rarer!

Update

Well the cheap ass DVD player has been playing up these last couple of months, the volume would go straight to max on its own, the volume would go down on its own and when you try and fight it it would do the opposite, it sometimes wouldnt play a CD, it would skip tracks forward and backwards and also it would play backwards

So after about 2 months of this being like it is, the inevitable happened...

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/Tom_Lad/Golf%20GTI%2020/DVDSmash.jpg

Yes, i got annoyed and smahsed it with a convertor i had lying in the passenger footwell

I tried twice before to get the DVD player out and failed, it just wouldnt budge!! So last night i set my mind to it and started stripping around the DVD player to try and free it. With it being stipped enough to see down the side, I could see why I failed getting it out before....there was 2 screws each side half way in (so sticking out, acting like the steel cage things).

Sooooo i started removing more and more bits and finally got the f*cker out and was left with this...

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn94/Tom_Lad/Golf%20GTI%2020/DVDout.jpg

It's payday today so im getting a new SINGLE din CD player from Halffords (one from the sale) and im going to be purchasing a cubby hole from VW that goes inbetween the CD player and the cup holders.

Overall, it has cost me £59 and its a £59 well spent. Well worth getting one :y:

Also, I changed the drivers side rear 15mm spacer to an 8mm spacer due to the common fault of the mk4 golf that the rear chassis is more to the drivers side by 5mm!! lol

I will be ordering a 10mm spacer so it all matches up :y:

Should be going 5mm lower on the front this week sometime ;)

Ye would of been nice to keep it and finish it. I've kinda left the modifing world now. I couldnt bring my self to spend the money to get it lowered more, ARB removed, Chassis notched and engine spacers fitted tbh.

No, the deal didn't go through!

Was real wierd! This guy drove to mine from Manchester (1 hour and 30 mins drive) he got out with 3 other lads, 3 of them was drinking cans of Carlsberg!!. Was a little intimidating (sp) tbh.

Well they looked at mine and i looked at his, his car was a mess...he didn't even bother to clean it. Outside was dirty, inside was filthy. Stains on the carpet...fag butts everywhere, stank of smoke. There was empty cans of Carlsberg all over the place.

One of his mates just said that my car was a total loss, it had been in a smash and it shouldn't be on the road!! I was like WTF

The car is HPI clear as i do one everytime i buy a car :) Although I couldn't find the HPI certificate anywhere, typical!

Then the driver just said we'll leave it and they drove off and that was that!

Since he left, i have done another HPI check and it came back all clear...yet again.

Apart from all that, was a lovely car and sounded awesome, it has definatly made me want one. So im still looking. I really want to sell my car then buy one out straight :y:

My car is still for sale, although i am not in any hurry to sell.

I have fitted a standard exhaust to my car which is soo silent compared to the other one, which i love, and i need to get one 12mm spacer for the rear to stop rubbing. I am looking for some standard / OEM wheels too :A:

That is all folks.

Very sad to see it go tbh and it will be missed.

Went for £2400 and I kept the armrest, CD player and the exhaust. Also TAX was due at the end of the month, so got off lightly :p

All the bits are up for sale to go towards my new car :A:

I am looking at getting a BMW 3 Series coupe M Sport. Been looking for a while and seen a few so watch this space ;)
