Hi, as the title says, trying to find a new car

However im completely stuck on what to get,
i need it to be below insurance group 10 (on old ratings)
as im only going to be 19.

But am looking for a car that will be comfy on motorway journeys seeing as ive done over 400 miles this week! Therefore good on mpg would be helpful but not essential.

Always preferred hatchbacks aswell, also want it to be fun on the odd country road but nothing that would be ridiculous.

My dad said a honda civic, definitaley considered!
but ive also looked at golfs etc too
Looking at 8k for the car, but anything from 6k up is cool ;)

Cheers
Alex

Why not wait a bit when insurance is less of a limiting factor and you can get a better car?

As traveling 400+ miles a week in a saxon isnt doin my back any good lol
So need a car that is comfy and would preferably overtake
Easily on motorway trips!

Otherwise waiting is what I planned to do lol

Or you could spend say maybe 2-3 k on a decent diesel car and save the rest for when you are a bit older, im sure you could pick up something decent for that money, maybe a Passat or Bora not sure what insurance group they are but cant see them being too high.

You wont really find a car that is really comfortable for that type of distances for that type of insurance group

Most i can say is 306 diesel turbo with hip hugger seats..

Im doing the same as you mate, new year, new car

Edit, after reading your budget, i dont understand why your insurance group needs to be that low, personally, i would go for an Audi A4, has everything you need in it, and full leather, but is group 14 (same to insure as a VTS) and you will have plenty of cash hanging about after that, as can pick up an absolutly mint one for about £4k, and then when you turn 21, get the car you really want!

Still a little hatchback though, not that it really matters, but when someone says motorway muncher, or a cruiser I think big saloon car which isn't whining through every gear, that just pulls all day long without thinking about it, which is exactly what it's designed to do, unlike hatchbacks which are meant for the town, I know that's a genralisation, not saying the Civic can't do motorways at all, but there are better cars, pretty much anything german is better for this.

Skoda Fabia VRS sounds like the car for you, not sure not their insurance group though!
