What are the actual dis-advatages and advantages? All i can think of is..

Foam Lance:

Advatages-

Easy to apply
Keeps soapyness

Soapy Bucket:

Advantages-

Warm Hands
Dont have to rush before soap runs off the car

Dis-advantages-

Get grit on you wash mit
Water doesent stay warm :(
Loses soapyness

Can anyone else tell me which one is better? Im debating wether to keep using my foam lance or use a bucket? :geek:

I hope you are not suggesting that you foam lance your car and then wipe it with a wash mit or something similar.

Foam lance is simply there as a first step to remove heavy bits of dirt.

LOL i have always foam lanced my car normally my step is..

JetWash - Get loose dirt off
Soak Wash mit - Get it moist
Foam lance - Gets soap on the car with water
Chamois - Dry car
Wax - Make it shiny (I dont wax that often though)

Snow foam is only to loosen and remove small amounts of dirt.
Advantages fun, reduces the infliction of swirls
Disadvantages. Expensive to start
Soapy bucket is the only way to remove all of the dirt and grime off of your paint

This is not how to wash a car sorry.

Ideally you should;

Jetwash it just get it wet no need to loose any dirt off.
Foam lance it (preferabley pH Neutral unless you want to start from a base surface)
Leave it for about 5 minutes.
Jet Wash it off.
Two Bucket method and grit guards.
Rinse car.
Driying towel and microfibres with any quick detailer of your choice.

Your method could be destroying your paint.

Same sort of method as me, but if really stinking i do two foam washes to reduce the risk of swirling as i'm a whore:) remember the more dirt you get off in the foam process the less chance in inflicted marring or swirls, also after two bucket method stage i use tar remover and a cloth to get rid of tar, wash car again, rinse and then dry. Finish with a Quick detailer sealent to add protection with a microfibre.

Arr nice one guys for correcting me i just thought as it sprayed water with soap onto the car its not much difference than using a bucket of water? Ill be sure to follow your step now though :) Cheers!

Wish I had a PW that heated the water. Makes foam more effective.

Ok, I realise the guy has been doing it wrong but how can you say it will be destroying his paint? :S

I can't see much difference between using the 2BM or foaming and using a wash mitt. They're both cleaning soap products...

And keeps your hands warmer ;)

I snowfoam 3 bloody times now :(

Once to loosen/remove crap, then rinse, foam again to remove even more, rinse, foam again then wash 2BM.

I think the OP is mistaking snowfoaming as just a way of getting suds on the car, whereas its actually a prewash process. But then I do use it to get suds on the car when I wash it aswell, just to add lubricity.

Yeah I realise that, but Aly claimed what he's doing will ruin the paint. I don't see much of an issue with it really, just seems to me like he's using his snowfoam instead of a standard shampoo. No real issue with that IMO as long as he's using a rinse bucket too...

Dave at NE Detailing told me this as I had been using a pH neutral foam shampoo and was washing my car with it, part of the washing process is lifting the dirt off your car, not just applying soap and moving it about.

I don't even use snowfoam though so I don't see how it would make a difference?

snow foam is just to loosen and bring small amounts of dirt off the car. it; great fun. some people can't justify the money. neither s wrong it's just a matter of opinion again.

Im really disliking this section lately might just stick to detailing world
