Hard to say, baffles me swapping an MR2 for a VTS, it's like going down the car ladder ten steps. It must have something well wrong with it or he's just mental. I'd get it RAC inspected, thing with Toyotas, they're awesome, but if they break...fuck me your bank balance gets raped, trust me, I've had three!

Or could be he's been in a Saxo and likes them and needs something cheaper to run, however it does seem like a stupid move, his car is easily worth more than yours, he must be an idiot because otherwise he'd sell it, buy a cheap Saxo, and keep the remainder, unless like above, there is something savagely wrong with it.

He did just have his second kid, and said that its not a good financial time to have a weekend car, more so only with 2 seats!!
Said it got couple marks etc, but will have a look. It would not be a straight swap I would have to give up 800 quid, but gonna try me luck, plus he wants sumit small, fast and fun = vts!!!

Not really a fan of these but this one looks alrite i worked in toyota a few years ago always get problems with pre cats and maf's also you cant turn traction control off so no sidways action

Well if it's in good nick, then it's a bloody bargain for £800 on top of your car. Just get it thoroughly inspected and keep a good £500 to a grand in the bank for if anything goes wrong with it. Sounds like a daft amount, but believe me...you'd need it if it went tits up. They just aren't cheap to get bits for and the labours always phenomenal

only been a passenger in one, but easily better than a saxo.

I seeing it today, Will take it for good tear up and see how if feels, any funny business and i will walk. Cause it would be mad to get rid my mint and perfectly running sax for a car with issues!!

Hi all

Im the MR2 owner in question!! Im not an idiot or stupid, I can assure you! Thanks for the constructive criticism, though. There is more to life than owning a nice car. I used to have the nicest cars I could possibly afford, but that was at the sacrifice of nice clothes, no house etc etc. My life has completely different priorities now which dont include a flash car, so thats my reason for selling.

Nice to meet you today, John. Hope you like the car. Im no conman though. Please dont assume that by downtrading, that means there MUST be something wrong with me or my car. :n::n:

MK3 MR2s handle like a dream as standard. 140bhp 1.8 VVTi engine.

Later ones (with 16" rear wheels) come with an LSD of sorts rather than just an open diff. Only real problem (if you can call it that) is that the heatshield on the cat will corrode and come loose and rattle. Easily sorted with a grinder and some muscle.

Thanks for the link to the progress thread, Matt! A lot of attention and care has been put into the MR2 to take it from hairdresser aid to something that looks, sounds and goes a little more purposeful!

Not a problem on mine... this has already been removed, along with the dreaded precats! :clapping:

I must admit, John, driving the car home after I left you in the cold with the roof down but the heater on full was a great feeling! I wouldnt normally bother putting it down in this weather, but it was great fun, and had quite a lot of people looking at me clearly thinking 'is he mental???'. I just wanted a big sign that said 'my heater works, thanks!'
