Anyone do wood work?

im doing a uni project and its based on this shit jib crane thats a 100000000 years old lol and the main arm of the crane is wood and it joins to the base by fitting into an iron collar now i know the end of the wooden arm has been cut away so it will fit into the collar but i dont know what this type of joint is called, does anyone know please?

its just a round tenon joint mate. or a hexagon tenon or however many sides it has its a tenon. anything that fits inside something in woodwork is a tenon.
