Im going to be renewing the old insurance soon, At the moment I'm just about to finish a 10 month bonus accelerator deal with Admiral, however i want to shop around to see what other prices as i can get preferably for 12 month. However because i have done this "10 month bonus accelerator" which allows me to get a renewal after 10 months as if i have 1 years no claim bonus, if i changed insurance companies would i not be able to class that one years no claim?
Admiral sent me a form for my renewal and on it, it clearly says i have on years no claims, could i use that as my proof?
Cheers

It depends, this is a really grey area which everyone has a differing opinion on.
My first two years were '10 month bonus' ones and my third year was a 12 months policy.
I have 3 years no claims as far as I am concerned but others disagree and there are a couple of insurance companies/people on here who say they don't accept it
I think the main issue is that you could pass your test a week after your 17th birthday, do a 10 month policy and then go to another company saying you have a years no claims.....but you are not 18 by that point so how could you have a year??
Do you see what I mean
Best thing to do is ring them and ask
I say I have 3 years no claims, I have a certificate here from First Direct (my previous insurer) which says 3 years no claims, there is no mention of the first two years being from 10 month policies

Make it very clear to your new insurer it is not genuine NCB you hold, many companies will not accept it.

What confuses me is how can you define 'genuine no claims bonus'?
It doesnt state on the paperwork how the no claims was obtained, it simply says '1 year no claims'
They dont ask when you take out the policy so I dont see how they couldnt pay out in the event of a claim

I was told by an insurer that it depends on the certificate of no claims. I.e. if it says 1 years no claims over 10 months or refers to the accelerator, some may not accept it, or if it has dates on, then they may not accept it. If it just says 1 year, then you should be fine...

I was tempted to do this but opted for the 12 months just incase other insurance companies wouldn't accept it. As im sure there are many out there that will not accept it.

i did the 10 month bonus accelerator for 4 years to get my no claims bumped up quickly. I'm back on 12 month policies now.
The no claims you get over the 10month jobbies are 1 years no claims that can be used at other companies.
