ok.... found a site called topozone.com which let me put the above figure in, and in turn shows you a map & the degree readings

the above is for 37.0000°N, 77.0000°W, added 1° onto the north & came up with this map

It looks like its a place in Virginia in the USA called Byrds Millpond in King and Queen.

I know you said you've tried google earth, but couldnt help myself by trying it to.

They aint the exact same co-ordinates, but they are more or less the same.

thanks tony, they were the correct no.s and area, so well done.

The next question was about who knew what the cryptos said. his intials were WW.

The next question that i am currently searching for is in the front cover of the book, you need to get specific letters to spell out a code. which will then unlock the 4th question.

very cool stuff. I've even found a website with all the answers but have refused to look. even though i did check the 1st answer i then decided to delete the historyof the computer so i could n't easily find it again!!!
