Right been an XBOX owner since 2003.
Bored of my xbox, xbox live pisses me off.

Gonna sell my xbox to buy a PS3.
Mostly want it for GT5 but will also play other stuff on it.

Which model should I go for?
I want to use it on my 20" Samsung Pebble, any special connections I will need like HDMI to DVI?

And...Where is the best place to buy from?

I have the older chunky PS3, so cant comment on the newer models!

My PS3 has only hdmi iirc, so you would need a HDMI to DVI adapter, unless the monitor has hdmi port.

Doesnt matter where you buy it, just check the usual places and get the best/most suitable deal for you. e.g curry, comet, argos, game, macro(if you have a card), amazon etc.

What pisses me off with xbox live is just the message chat system, I don't want to talk to randoms online.

My monitor has VGA and DVI but I have a double DVI Switch (it's this thing that allows you to swap between DVI plugs)

I'll prob hunt down a HDMI to DVI plug then.

Yeah use DVI, i believe it transmits same resolution as HD, where as VGA i believe is lower resolition(dont take my word for it though, i might be wrong).

With the messages, randoms can still do it on the PS3, i guess it happens a little less though probably because the generation of people on the PSN are probably older, less immature!

Go for the PS3 slim, i got the 250gb but there's a 320gb out and i'm sure you can pick up the 320gb with Gran Turismo 5 for about £249

Have a look on Argos thats where i got mine, do good deals

It's been down for me numerous times, alot of the time when a new game comes out it goes down again.

Just not as Functional as xbox live IMO.

i think sony are doing or planning to do a premium service dunno if it will be any better though, but i have a one of the 80gb fat ps3s and it hasnt skipped a beat and the psn hasnt had any problems for me since i got it

I'll probably do the same. Keep the Xbox for a Media Center Extender, it's quite handy for that.

I can honestly say i have never had a issue with xbox live, not even on the older xbox. Even whilst at uni last year when my NAT was strict i didnt have any problems. I love my xbox:P

Havent had a chance mate, PS3 doesnt even work at university, well it didnt last year any way so didnt bother bringing it again.

Have been playing it on xbox 360 though, a bit better at the controls now compared to when you metaphorically raped me.
