just been out to pick my girlfriends mum up and when i stopped my engine was making an awful racket. yesterday i had a squealing noise which i'm guessing was the cam belt my saxo's done 43000 miles so im guessing it's just time for a change. not sure what the other noise from today is though. could it be noisy if the engine oil is low or would the oil light come on if this was the problem? The noise is really hard to explain, it's a 1.1 engine if thats any help

right how do i do that?? if it only takes a couple of minutes then not much point taking it to a garage for that. what about the other noise though it seems to be really really loud when stationary

cam belts tend not to squeal and has been already said don't need changing till at least 70k. Try to find exactly where it's coming from with the bonnet up and engine running. Is it worse when reving? Is it there when the engine is hot and cold, give us some mor info blacky.
