After the ice days is over im going to attempt to colour code my engine bay,
For example, like chip did on his old maritious blue vtr.

Do you literally just buy a tin of whatever colour paint and paint it on?
Is there steps top get the best finish?

I dont know anything about paiting!
Cuz im a noob.
Cool story bro.

When you say engine do you mean the rocker cover ,the block or the cylinder head because the rocker cover is easy but things like the block & the head i`d recommend taking the engine out to do it.Ok i`ve seen some progress threads where people have painted the engine while still in the car but personally it would be engine out time for me & i`d respray the bay at the same time.

Steve.

Go to B&Q, pick the colour paint you want and apply it with a paint brush. One coat will do aswell ;)

will it have to be some sort of paint that can take the heat?
for the engine and parts that get hot

rocker covers and generall parts will be fine with aerosols but exhaust manifold will need heat resistent paint mate

For the block/head/gearbox/sump/alternator, etc, i painted them using a paint brush with heat resistant paint, things that are more visable i sprayed, again with heat resistant paint, things like rocker cover, manifold cover, etc.

Make sure you prep everything, clean it, sand it etc :) I also had the engine in bits to do most of it, good time to renew parts :y:

maybe even a tin of hammerite will do the trick. so long as u take ur time and do it neatly it comes out looking ok.

Anyone got a link to something decent to spray/paint with, Preferably black/red for my Red VT rocker.

Also what paint for a shiny black finish for my Front Chev's on the grille?

Thanks!
