just got an insurance quote on a VTR and VTS with a difference of about £250 a year is it worth paying the extra for the VTS are they that much better?
By the way I can afford the difference!!

Yes. Definitely worth it.
Its a different driving style, but once you are used to it you'll see what I mean !

Was that aimed at me?
Thanks saxx I meant ride quality interior etc
u may get some extra air bags
it'll handle like a vtr

any reason ?
theres a topic with a fully blown bitch but cant find it
i think it was krovean.............i apologise if it wasnt!
found it:
was just takin the piss... how they always assume theyre cars are just a tiny bit below the vts, sum even say they're faster than the vts.. yet theyre sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than the 1.4s? get over yourself.
get a vts hands down
im not moanin at any particular person. /rant over! smileys/smiley7.gif

the ride and handling is the same as the vtr
some have side air bags
and they have rear seatbelts
in all honesty they are about the same up to 60mph
but then there are speed limits, its up to you mate, if i could sell the vtr and get a vts tomorrow then i would
how did you write off the 1.4? its not much extra money on the insurance, but depending on how much you have to spend on a car, if its 3000 you mite get a good vtr with lower miles but a vts for the same price may have more miles

Exactly what i was thinking.. because im in the same situation. I currently have a vtr but its got 102k on the clock. I could get a vts at end of year and insurance would only be about 250-300 quid more but i dont want to go over 3 grand on the car. Can either get a 30-40k vtr or a vts with 70k on the clock. Think ill be choosing the vtr.
If i could afford a better vts id deffinatly go with that without even having to think about it.

If moneys no option mate then you may aswel go for the VTS, £200-£300 extra a year is nothing really.

thats what I was thinking
plus the extra road tax you'll pay
its not just the insurance that'll increase................ at a risk of soundin like an old biddy smileys/smiley5.gif

why extra road tax they are both a 1.6
Dave_M
25th May 2006, 16:51
probably to do with the co2 emissions (or whatever its called)?
i only found out other day that mk2 vtr is 50 quid cheaper on road tax a year than a mk1. That was due to less co2 being produced or whatever it is.
why extra road tax they are both a 1.6
because of the 16v the emissions push it into the higher tax category

tax on a mk1 vts is about 190 for a year isnt it?

hmm might test drive both this weekend
Yates
25th May 2006, 18:05
its all your choice mate, when i passed my test i could of got a vtr or a vts, vts was a lil more but my dad offered to pay, but he was paying insurance as well for the 1st year, so i went for the vtr, never regretted it, im not arsed about speed, i like the looks and the vtr is nippy enough for what you need
bristol_stevie
25th May 2006, 18:26
im not bothered about speed really just thought if I can afford both go for the vts
Yates
25th May 2006, 18:31
well just see what you can get for the price, which is in bestt conidition.
Ive driven both, and imho the vts wasnt what i expected it to be, it gets bigged up all the time, altho it was on 90k. stil faster than the vtr tho

It may not be relevant, or may be coincidental, but from what i can gather the VTRs seem to generally be a bit more reliable. Having said that if you can get lucky and pick up one thats untouched and been owned by a middle aged female itll run like a dream.

Ive just gone from a Furio to a VTS and its great. The whole car feels more like a car having the bigger engine (no tinny engine noise). Im not sure about the VTR's though. I went for the VTS over the R becasue there getting very hard to find standard ones with very little mileage on the clock.
