mk1 cat on a mk2

hi can i use a mk1 vtr cat on a mk2 vtr because i have got a piper manifold and it needs a cat for m.o.t and dont want to take the piper manifold off????

Mk1 uses 1 Lambda sensor, Mk2 (except very early ones) uses 2 sensors, one pre cat and one after it. The 2nd sensor makes sure the cat is doing its job properly. A Mk1 cat would fit physically though, I assume you have sleeved your 2nd sensor already? If so should work okay.
