My missus bought a citroen c3 today, car runs lovely and drives/performs well too. when we went to view the car i checked insude the oil cap and there was white creamy gunk which means one thing (head blown) the dealer said the reason was that the car had been sitting there for a while and its just condensation, so i run the car cleaned away the gunk and took it out for a drive, when we got back there was no white stuff on the oil lid, basicaly there is no water in the oil. he also serviced the car yesterday for us so its all clean oil and filters..when we got it home today i checked the cap once again and there was a bit of white gunk. wer is it coming from? car never overheats, never misfires and never judders..im really puzzled :wall: so please help
thanks people

Normally if the head gaskets gone the water level in the rad will drop and be pressurised, the car will overheat and there sometimes is a loss of power. You can get white gunge on the filler cap too.I would try it for a week and look for the previously mentioned symptoms.
You can get a gas test done if unsure

thanks mate,is it possible that it is just condesation?the oil is clean, coolant level never drops,no white smoke out the exhaust,iv been told that it wasnt anything to worry about and probably just the cold air going across the cap and a head gasket is much thicker.its probs nothing to worry about but i will get the gas test done so thanks mate

gunk is probably from car being stood mate you can get it from doing short journeys aswell due to condensation forming and mixing with oil. if cars running sweet and youve got a 3 month warranty chances are if its the head your gonna know about it before that runs out. If it was me pal id give it a good week or so using it regular keep checking water level and see how you go chances are its nothing to worry about to be honest.

Personally this doesnt sound like headgasket as it may have been idle for some time..
When the car has been sat overnight, how long does it take to heat up?!

In this weather will almost definitely just be condensation on the cap mixing with oil

Well it sounds like the car does short trips, you can get Gunk from short trips and also in this weather, you'll get it a lot due to moisture in the air... I wouldn't worry just yet mate! :fcuk:

don't worry michael, its common condensation as everyone has said, take it a real good run on the motorway and it'll soon clear. Old Fords used to be really prone to this, no other symptoms of head gasket issues there, it'll be fine i'm sure.
