Anyone run them? ive got four turning up in January ready for next years track work.
I was planning to run Kumho v70a's in Hard but the price i got these Yoko's for i couldnt resist.. Just reading up on them and theyre £185 a corner in my size on cam  which is more than the 888's and v70's!!
Opinions?

I had 4 on my Nova, I didn't like them that much.

Id say they are better. Stiffer sidewall and they wear alot less. A control tyre for some popular race series.

Road or track?
Ive read theyre a bit extreme in standing water but out perform 888's/v70a's in the dry hence the heftier price tag.
As i put above on Cam there £185 where hard v70a's are only £135..
It seems the overall opinion is theyre not widly used as theyre a lot more expensive than theyre rivals..

I was using the 888s all last year due to sponsors and even with only 170 ish bhp you could measure there life in hours. So you may have to budget for a few sets if your looking to do a lot of hard driving. They also tended to over heat on longer runs and just turn in to jelly on longer practice sessions. But then again I am probably taking a fair bit more lateral and braking loads then most would get on a track day. The 888s did grip well in the dry for a road tyre. In the damp they where quite poor until you got them up to temperature then not to bad. In heavy rain forget it they where pants. Even with extra channels cut in them there still not all that great. Cant for the life of me recall what compound they where though.
Another thing worth considering is these road legal cut slicks actually work better as the treat wears down and you will drive them until there slicks. Obviously this is not road legal. Also there so soft they pick up flats and just general damage very easily. So it is worth having road wheels with normal road tyres to get you to and from the track and then some track tyres you can just run till there fried. Though saying this for track days I have as much or even more fun with normal road tyres, darn sight cheaper too.

Road or track?
On road but I think it was because of the crap Koni suspension I had.
On my other Nova I had Spax RSX with R888s and it felt much better, on road again.

For wet days i generally leave my road wheels on with Falken 452's on as until it dries i past every motor with Kumho's on :clapping:
Only ever seen these Yoko's on caterhams so never realy looked into them until now after buying four :fcuk:
I hear the step up to slicks from road tyres is ten fold the step up from road to track tyres but the braking point in control is on track/in barrier :n:

I Coudltn jusitfy these type or tyres on road i use either Falken 452's or toyo t1r's for streching on my Borbets..
Got a few mates who use 888's on the road, one on a 350z the other a caged e30 325 and i think theyre mad :zainy:
Ive also always been lead to beleive on road you physically cant keep enough heat in the track day tyres to get 100% of theyre performance???

It is true you would have to be driving like a complete moron to keep then on the ball on he road. For normal road use you would also have to run a lot more pressure in them.

Wonder if there affected by pressure as badly as 888's..

Have you asked on a BMW Forum??
Reason being different tyres will be better/worse depending on the car etc.

Common conception i've got from people (not used them myself), is that people who have used them and R888s, usually tend to say the A048s are superior, but not enough to warrant the price difference. But, given that R888 prices went up a bit back, there's not as much of a gap anymore.

Yes thats where i bought them from i just wanted a wider opinion on them if thats ok ;)
Yer i found the v70a's where 135, the 888's 160 and the yoko;s 185 so theres quite a hike in price!
Thankfully though these are only setting me back £240 for FOUR! so there defo worth the punt! Probly get the V70a's once i scrub out the yoko's jsut to try them as i havent had them before..

i had these on my old saxo and never had a problem with them give plenty of grip and the side walls seem strong (only used on track in dry) but i could never justify paying that much for another set so i went for r888's after but given the choice id have the A048s
