Random hose

Good afternoon all and a merry Christmas to you!

I acquired a Saxo 1.0 on a R plate last week for a runabout and have noticed a disconected hose and hope someone could tell me where it connects?

At the rear of the engine, black egg shaped plastic box that the air filter sits up into. 2x 8mm hoses coming from the right hand side of it, the hose at the forefront is T'd into a fuel line(I think) and the other is flapping about, disconnected fromm somthing but cannot find where?

Any ideas ?

Got it sorted in the end, appeared the hose once connected to the air intake where there now lies a melted section of plastic, right next to the battery.

Checked the air filter as the fuel usage was not as good as I thought it would be, just as well as it was black, full of dirt, dead flies, leaves, empty crisp packets etc with a stamp date of '99. Replaced and it goes really well now, quite chuffed.

However, still getting a grinding/scraping noise only when reversing back, only when in gear and when under more torque(if that makes sense). The clutch was replaced 2 weeks ago, and didn't do it before apparently.

I have had a good look round with the torch but can see anything obvious, only tired looking gear linkages , one with a cable tie around it too?

Any ideas where I should start looking?
