Release bearing going by the sounds of it. If the noise goes when you dip the clutch. Eventually it will make a noise weather the clutch is dipped or not.
The whineing sound you have refered to sounds like a gearbox bearing. Mine used to make a noise when pulling off. Did it in 1st and 2nd then went quite in 3rd.
cheers mate can a release bearing whine in all gears thanks because all the gears have a whine many thanks j

I have the above release bearing related problem but not the whining at low revs.... I can't be arsed to fix the release bearing yet as I still don't know wether I'm building a VTi engine yet

if it wines on over drive - when you slowing down not braking then it could be diff wine nought to worry bout really! check gearbox oil level, dont over fill!

mine did the exact same. stuck an EBC fast road clutch in and its sorted it right out! not hard to change either.
