View Full Version : Black Ops speed dropped

Anyone else notice that there speed has dropped according to Black Ops?
I regularly check mine as it makes a BIG difference imo. I also check my NAT type as anything other than 'Open' is not worth trying to play with.
My apparent speed has gone from 1000Kbps to 240-500Kbps in the past couple of days. It will sometimes hit 1000Kbps if I'm lucky but it seems a real lottery atm, if I reset my router it changes and not always for the good.
I have thought it could be because it's Christmas but a net test on my computer says that I'm getting my usual speed, as is the PS3 when I do a Network Test.
To check you go in to Options on the Multiplayer screen.
Edit:
....and press Select.

Port forwarding on router should help if u havent done it already.

My NAT was always open, and now recently it has changed to strict, even though I haven't changed any settings?

The way I do it is by turning off everything else that uses the net, or it's Wifi. I then un-plug and re-plug the router (I was going to say reset but I think that is technically different). I also have my PS3 using a wired connection which I have found helps.
I know my method isn't easy if you're in a Uni house, or even at home but it's what works for me.
As haz_pro has said, that can help. I think the method has been simplified since I tried it a few years back.
The COD series has always been very temperamental connection wise and your connection makes a MASSIVE difference to how well you do.

Damn, have you being doing shit as a result?
It maybe something to do with it being Christmas?
As said, I switch off and on my router every time before I play any COD. Mine has gone to moderate a couple of times and it even warns you now on the online screen. 'Someone in your party has a NAT type of Moderate and this will affect match making' or something to that effect.
Are you still on my list?

Yeah I refuse to play it with a strict connection, I seriously want to smash the controller into the tv! Get that message everytime I try to lobby up with people.
Tried just resetting the router, but I will try unplugging it and leaving it for a bit white I go to work.
Last time I checked yeah I was, not seen you on in a bit though, but I've not been on much either due to the shite connection.
