the tax on one of my car has ran out, it ran out on the 31st, now i just got the car and dont have the v5/docs for it, so cant tax it online, and my insurance papers havnt came threw yet so cant do it at the post office with the little green slip, my mate told me u get 14 days to tax a car, is this ture? can i drive the car as the tax has just ran out or do i need to tax be4 setting off in it?

Can't drive without tax. I beleive you do have 14 days to tax it again before being fined. I would say declare it sorn but you need the v5 for that.
Also, I hope you have offroad parking as the police will get your car impounded if it's on the street.

You need valid tax to have the car on the road! So in short, no you can't legally drive your car on the road until you get more tax

whats the 14days for then? just to sort it out but u cant drive on roads right? i mean it was only friday it ran out, and its insured but i havnt got the paper threw so cant tax it yet. would do it online but the cars not in my name yet, so would go to sellers house yeah?
my house it bought with private driveway so no problem there,

14 days is to give u time to sorn it or tax it! still cant be driven without tax tho!

bit pointless the 14days then. but thats what i thot u cant drive without tax wather its just ran out or not, looks like ill have to wait and walk in the mean time

It's just for situations like this or incase someone forgets. Abit harsh fining them straighaway so you get 2 weeks to sort your shit out.
Don't complain about it being pointless, if it weren't for the 14 days you would be receiving a fine along with your insurance docs!

I taxed my car last year with no docs only logbook some post office can look on screen for insurance and mot
