Guys and Gals.....looking for a new house alarm and looking at a wireless one for obvious reasons. The one we have now is wired, working well but my god its an ugly thing on the hall way wall.
So if anyone has a wireless one....
1) is it any good?
2) What make is it??
Thanks in advance.

We have a wireless one as it would be a right pain to re-wire the whole house (the existing alarm before our current one was shot at). No idea what make it is as it was installed by Chester security but it works very well. Batteries need replacing every year but its never been a problem. Works as just as good as any other alarm!

We have a wireless one which was an optional extra with the house when the parents bought it..
Quite unnoticeable and rather effective when they tested the range etc in front of us :)

visonic are the leaders in the wirefree range. fitted 100's of these and never had any bother . as for battery life 3-5years depends on the type of sensor. it all comes preprogrammed so pretty much ready to fit.

I install alarms for a living, wireless alarms are good but like people have all ready said battery life. We change the batteries every 3 years, the 1 problem with wireless alarms is they go in to radio loss with will activate the alarm. :/ I would highly recommend wired alarm,
try
www.riscogroup.co.uk
You could try a CPX or CP8 panel from risco the panels and RKP are smaller and a lot neater. If you don’t like you alarm in your house then I would just upgrade the alarm.
Wired alarms are 100x better then wireless but they do have the advantages. If you need any help choosing your alarm let me know and would me more than happy to help.
use a NACOSS approved company like ourselves to install the alarm,
Hope this helps you.

i didn`t think risco sell to the public only trade ? thats what it used to be anyway.
ps - i disagree on the wired is better than the wireless. i think its just as good now days. everyone is really pushing wireless now. risco , honeywell , scantronic etc as its the way forward

risco don’t sell to public. But they supply other companies that sell to public. Here is a few links of other companies that sell ricso group/GTAG. You could all so try Honeywell’s website.
http://www.hunters-wholesalers.co.uk/burglar-alarms-gardtec-euorsec-control-panel-with-factorgrade-2built-speech-dialler-p-832.html7
http://int.rsdelivers.com/product/gardtec/cpxlcd-rs/cp8-com-intruder-alarm-panel-with-lcd/4946281.aspx
with CP8's you can connect to your phone line and have a built in speech dialler , will call you when alarm activates. CP8 panel's work with wireless receivers so you could still have a wireless alarm with this type of panel.

I am unsure if they sell to the public but you could all wise try.

cp8 can`t connect to your phone or take wireless. thats the cpx that can do all that mate. again thats a wired panel thats been adapted to take wireless stuff plus the sounder has to be wired. works out more expensive that way than just buying a true wireless system .

, that’s correct it is the CPX that dose that, but the problem with full wireless system is it's not as reliable as a wired systems, I see in your post you fit them a lot we tend to fit wired alarms.
at the end of the day you get what you pay for, but i have never had any experience with the wireless alarms you fit.
the alarms you fit are they insurance approved?

we fit wired and wireless but in houses people round here usually don`t want wired now. hence we`ve tried just about all the wireless going.
we wouldn't fit wireless in a comercial site though , only wired.
i like the visonic powermax stuff for wireless as there is never any signal losses or problems. the risco stuff likes of the agility/wisdom i have had signal strength issues but they have been resolved. its just a personal thing really. plus visonic have been in the wirefree game for 20years plus so they are the daddies lol.
minimum grade we fit is grade 2. plus everything is insurance approved.
if we had to do wired, it would be cp8l / cpx / 595 etc. tend to use risco for the wired.

As long as I have been doing this I have never herd of visonic, but it is just what we install, they must be god otherwise you would not in stall then ha,
We go to grade 4, highest I think, if we are fitting in a commercial building we tend to you gardtec like 595,800 or galaxy's (hate them alarms).
Are you NACOSS company? Do you fit many signal alarms, red care ECT. I will have to let my boss know about these alarms if they are that good :).

visonic are really just the wirefree market, am sure your boss will have heard of them they've been around a long time. a lot of firms use them round here also.
not a fan of galaxy either lol, risco is best for wired imo. biggest risco wired system ave used is the 872 i think its called. took ages to program as there was loads of expander cards. highest grade ave done is a grade 3 never done a grade 4 before.
yeah we do digi`s recare and dualcom. mostly dualcom now days
were in the SSAIB .
