Just gone over one near where i live, they have dug up the road, and just left the potholes, not bothering to fill them in. There is no signs there to show the road has been dug up and hasnt been properly sorted yet, no sign for the potholes, (considering there is loads in a short space) and i think ive fucked my tyre up, fucking government!
they would rather spend 100millions of pound joining the eu!
Rant over!

think a pot hole has got to be a certain depth before you can claim off the council, it could of been because of the bad weather, theres a lot of them about, cracks in the road, water gets in, water freezes and expands and pops the tarmac

I work for NRP, my job is to plane up old road surfaces ready for tarmac to lay behind us. So if you see a big blue and orange Wirtgen W2200 blocking up roads down south (M25 in particular) and in wales, mainly powys then chances are I have something to do with it :)

50% cuts in road maintenance budget this year too, and after 2 bleak winters the roads are proper fucked and most need a full depth re-con but they wont pay for it. We just end up taking off 30/40mm of wearing course and laying over fucked, rotten and cracked base, or doing patches when the whole lot needs to come up.

Expect them to be repaired in the march/april period though as thats when councils need to use up their allocated budget and its when they usually get the roads sorted.

Road maintainance in the UK is shocking, so many roads are fucked and the government is more interested in new builds and other wastes than to keep the current road system in a good state of repair.

I wonder how many people on here that whinge about potholes and how much tax they pay this shitty government actually pay council tax? ;)

It's not the Government to blame solely for the crap condition of the roads, it's mainly the fact that local authorities put out major work to the lowest bidder then waste millions elsewhere within the council

Fair point, I avoid most but there are a few ive hit, but have had no chance to avoid due to traffic and the sheer size of them :panic: 1 actually took my car off road last year:(

Still, the roads should be repaired & maintained.
