So, selling my fabia vrs as i no longer require the economy of it :y:
Been looking into a few cars:
- Mk1 octavia vrs
- Leon Cupra r
- Possibly an S3 (bit pricey)?
... generally the 1.8t 20v.
Im more swaying towards the LCR, but just wondering anything else worth looking at.
Should have about £4-5k to spend.
Also, anyone know how to tell the dif between the 210 bhp LCR and the 225?
Thanks.
Craig.

2001 was the switchover for the 210bhp-225bhp engines.Should have a sticker/plate possibly in the boot with the engine code.
Dont specifically go out and look for a 225bhp though as a) the 210 engine is ment to be stronger and b) you wont notice a blind bit difference on the road.

Think outside the box and get a Ford Racing Puma.
Might not be as fast on paper or as tuneable, but out the box it will be a much more fun car than any of the above with money thrown at them.

Would be annoyed though. Subliminaly allways in my head.
And would be looking for one after 2001 anyway.
Was tempted by the lean fr+ (tdi) but... just fancy the sound back and a bit of BOV time :)

parents have a LCR 225, and thats what i think i will get in the summer in grey. I drive there LCR and i fucking love it. Very very quick for what they are, and there have had a revo remap. ( ill go and get dyno in a sec) Look great, however interior is shit...

I thought the interior looked lovely :S
I do like them. Look like a lot of car and seem to look very tidy with subtle mods.

Off hand I can think of Alfa V6, BMW M3, Hyundai Coupé, Jaguar S or X type, Ford Racing Puma, Mazda RX-8, A selection of nice Mercedes, Toyota Celica I'd probably take of the VAGs or the Honda.

Mk1 Focus RS, but theyre not that cheap...
Mk4 Astra GSi maybe.
I've driven a couple of LCR's and I just think theyre a bit boring.

To add to this, im 19.
Cant get insured on M3's or EP3's :(
Strangely haha.
lcr isnt much more insurance wise than a vts and the octavia is less i think.
Saxo180's octavia is for sale :)

once remapped they are the same, no other parts are different between the two, was some thing to do with audi not wanting the LCR/S3 to rape the 225 TT
i know everyone and their dog has one but have you thought about a type r,
ive just got one and love it, apart from the fact thy are everywhere.
Nik_L
6th January 2011, 12:56
Ah right so its just the map then thats different and nothing internally??That clears a few lies up that ive been told then.lol.
Afaik the 225 also has a tracker fitted as standard(which needs a yearly subscription) and is more expensive to insure.
Also 2001 wasnt the switchover for the LCR engines, that was for the S3.The LCR was 2003 so scrap what i said above.

From what i can read on SCN, the switch over happened @ 2001 ish.
However ofcourse there are a few exceptions.
The newer engines are a BAM engine and have stronger con rods or w.e
Some sort of internals :)
It would merely be the fact that ide allways be wanting the 225. Shitty excuse i know haha.
But if the right car came at the right price... im sure i could be swayed :y:
And inregards to the type r... i cant get insured. For some reason :homme:
Other wise i would get one and k-pro it :)

The earliest 225 you will see will be on a 52plate as thats when the crossover happened.Basically all 2003 models and up will be a 225.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 16:11
yeah craig im the same, i want a 225, 210 are not the best so i dont want one.
like owning a vtr over a vts.. get a LCR 225 mate, revo remap your be hunting m3's
Nik_L
6th January 2011, 16:36
It certainly wont be like a Vtr and Vts.As said,on the road, side by side, you wont notice a blind bit of difference between the 2.
And hunting M3??You sure about that??Quite a bold claim that which i dont for 1 second believe.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 16:38
my parents is revo remapped as isnt a huge amount slower than my brothers mark 2 focus rs which i know full well takes m3's
CraigLovelock
6th January 2011, 16:45
:D with a remap they see 260 minimum.
225 is still quite a jump up!
Mind you. My fabia still has more torque :)
Going to miss the diesel!
moxy89
6th January 2011, 16:55
pretty sure my parent is not far off 270bhp, its was my brother before had some other bits done to it. But it doesnt hang about..
get the 225 one mate. dont settle for the shitty 210 model.
Nik_L
6th January 2011, 17:04
Yeah get the 225 one.
Just dont tell any1 incase you come across a 210 on the road and they laugh at you saying hahaha my shitty, less to insure 210 kept up with your 225.
Couldnt have that now.
CraigLovelock
6th January 2011, 17:13
Ofcourse i have to get the 225.
I wouldnt be a man if i didnt.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 17:13
wont keep up unless it modded which doesnt count. simple
CraigLovelock
6th January 2011, 17:20
Im sure there is some sort of banter about it.
Like the 16v vs 8v.
In the fabia is the ASZ vs BLT engine code lol.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 17:24
craig be careful buying one for like 4-5k. Im looking at spending 8k on one to get one with under 40k on it and to be a 54, last of the mk1 version. good luck. Come to a meet, i might bring the rents along..
Gary-VTR
6th January 2011, 17:24
But then after a remap/mods, when your cheaper 210 is pushing their 225 along, you get to dish out the bant. ;)
Nik_L
6th January 2011, 17:28

Exactly.
Standard vs standard there will be nothing in it.
Bothed mapped there will be nothing in it.
Its pretty straightforward really.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 17:34
yeah pretty straight foward get the 225 and you dont have to pay for a remap WINNER
Nik_L
6th January 2011, 17:37
Now you are making yourself look stupid if you believe that.
But tbh i dont think you are serious.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 17:39
No its just banter, do they still have the same alloys are the cupra r 225.
i personally am getting a 225 as insurance for me isnt much and do they still come in the colour as the later one ie the grey !!
jonezy
6th January 2011, 17:58
that platinum grey is awesome,
o and one more difference, some 210 bhp ones dont have brembos, not many but some.
moxy89
6th January 2011, 17:59
yeah, deffo got to have the brembros. I love the 225 so much, think ill get one very soon was debating a e46 m3 however that would rape my house deposit fund

I agree, however. Im currently not getting the full potential out of my fabia mpg wise.
Always doing short journeys etc and stop start...

I was using my brothers ~290bhp S14a yesterday, put in £25 of petrol, it was pretty much all gone after 85 miles mixed motorway & town, but that was on boost for quite a bit of it, off boost it's not too bad.
