just been reading a mag in asda as im too cheap to buy them and it said that from 2013 the new engine reg's will be that all engines must be lower than a 1.6ltr with a single turbo. also aero mods are limited and the under body will no longer be flat to aid overtaking in dirty air.

any one fancy entering a s with a turbo conversion????

Been covered before, jsut a shame they wont be turning the boost up to 1500hp like back in the day :(

Just think if they had 1500hp back then out of the bmw 1500 what would they be able to acheive now a days :fcuk:

probs iirc my mates dad has a 1.3 busa turbo in his lotus 7 running 400 so i can see with the money and knowledge been able to run easily over 700bhp

700 is fucking shit when twenty years ago they had 1500..

F1 is the pinical of motorsport and they have to be green? why the fuck should they its motorsport not the fucking toyota prius cup :wall:

1500BHP from a 1.6, thats just shy off 1000bhp per ltr! FACK!

and F1 with top engineers, will be little to no turbo lag surely?

assume they are just n/a engine now?

multi class f1 could be good, n/a vs t/c vs sc :D

Totally agree. Also, if the manufacturers weren't so limited as to What technoligy they can use (e.g no boost, no skirts, no slicks, no traction control ect) it would have pushed the technoligy to new levels, not only would f1 cars be ridiculously fast but technoligy would trickle down into road cars eventually, making them ridiculously fast too

There limited to 700 odd bhp by fuel regulations. God knows how insane it would be if it was free development on the engine would probably see a crazy amount of power. KERS and adjustable rear wings should be pretty damn good this year any how!

Screw all this crap.
All F1 cars should just use a J4 16v Citroen Engine as everyone on here knows it's the best engine ever made. Unless you can't tell I am joking

i not sure if i happy about it cause i like the super high reving v8s and the regs last season but on the up side we get turbo noise now :D so i dunno ill have to see it to make my decsion i reckon

And I thought the old RS200 could be screwed for power, considering they needed a rebuild after every 10 hours at full pelt. After they had been upped to 600bhp plus.

When in the old days the f1 cars put out 1500bhp from a 1.5 engine out of an old beemer I'm surprised they didn't need a rebuild after every 10 mins.

Anyone fancy trying to build a 1500bhp jp4? :P

Youd be surprised , BMW took blocks from owners cars with over 100miles on them , citing they had been through more heat cycles making them stronger than a fresh cast engine

Its probs to do with some health and safety shit: make the cars slower, less likely to crash, less people will get injured or die. But like any of that happens much anyways, but it wouldnt suprise me if it was down to that.

It's all due to keeping the emissions down (like they are doing in the WRC) which is a waste of time tbh. They drop the engine sizes in F1 to go 'green' yet car manufacturers are still making 4x4 that are greedy on fuel and pollute more ... doesn't make any sense! :n:

the way i see it F1 is the top form of motorsport and sould be unlimited, this would boost development in road cars, for example anti lock brakes, traction control, injection,
everything is developed in racing then get banned and put in road cars

F1 is shit these days, haven't watched it in years, I'd rather watch touring cars, so much more entertaining.

What's the point if you can't be creative and have the potential to build the best and make it the best it can be with all these restrictions, takes something out of the sport tbh.

Doesn't say much for pushing the limits when you aren't allowed to, this is meant to be ground breaking technology, not everyone stuck at the same level, I don't care if it keeps it fair, it's not about that to me, everyone has equal opportunity to make it the best and they should be able to fulfil that expectation, I wouldn't pay to watch or be a part of something if I didn't think they hadn't tried or weren't allowed to make them what they are capable of and push the boundaries.

Indeed it was on that Chris Barrie programme.

It will happen one day when they tell Bernie to fuck off and create their own championship.

Indeed

I'm not a fan of Bernie Ecclescake anyways.

FIA regs suck.

Also, I understand that some teams have more to spend than others, well so what, this is meant to be a glamorous championship, not bargain basement lidl F1. If you don't have the money don't compete, be prepared you may not win, or put more in to see a result? Not like the big car manufactures of the world can't afford it, and if they can't they should stay out.

You have to remember that some kind of boundaries need to be in place not only for safety but to stop those with the deepest pocket's just taking the piss.

But really they need to push things forward but the come on I want exhilaration to.

How long till "Can I fit this turbo to my Saxo" thread :p

I dont think theyre should be any boundries, why should teams be held back because smaller teams can afford to compete..

Its Formula 1 not the oxfam cup!

that's pretty crap.
and people are saying it's about emissions? that's crazy, a car puts out nothing compared to aircraft, they should be more of a focus.

Have you seen those adverts when theyre banging on about pollution and its got a blury picture of a plane and when it zoom's out its looking at a cars exhaust :S

I half agree with some of the new rules, if you made it a Formula where anything goes then you'd only have a few teams battling it out. At least with rules you can have smaller teams trying to battle and upset the larger more historic teams within the sport.

One thing I am please about in 2011 is no moe Legard commentary

So who is with Brundle this year then?

Silky

Coulthard, Brundle is going to be lead commentator

Not sure if Coults will still do the pit work with Jake and Eddie
