random thread...
if you were selling something, say a car part, and you knew it wasnt compatible for what they had, would you say anything or just take the money? lol

just a random thought as a mate tried to buy something for his car that wont fit and i told him it wouldnt even though he really wanted it..

so would you be honest or is the sale more important?

at then end of the day if you have listed something 100% then its there fault if it does not fit BUT it does help to help others out.

I'd be honest tbh (lol).

Imagine if you sold it to some big grip (MiniGibbo :homme:) and he wasn't happy and the only way to show this was to smash your face in?

id be as honest as possible and as long as you make them aware that something (a part) would'nt fit for instance and they still proceed to buy it then . . . tuff shit IMO

Honesty first - I still believe in old school values - too many liars and cons out there already :n:

With car parts people normally research what part they need, so I'd most likely not hold there hand and quiz them on Their purchase. After all, they came to you.
I'd be honest of course, got to protect your reputation :)

Honesty is the best policy in most cases.

Although when i sold my Tomcat half leathers (due to them being a pain in arse to get to fit the Saxo) i sold them to a lad who was putting them in a Saxo haha. I said they'd fit, which they would, just didn't tell him how much work was needed :P

I'd be honest. If I've told them and they then realise it's wrong that's their problem though.

if i knew it wouldn't fit,i wouldn't sell

if i wasnt sure if it'd fit,i'd tell the buyer that i'm not 100% if it will or will not fit and say its up to him/her to buy it

Lol... if it was someone off the forum, i'd have simply said 'they will fit, but you'll have your work cut out' and said exactly what i thought was the best way.

But it was ebay and he seemed certain he could get them to fit too. He came to my house, checked them over and was happy. I couldn't do any more lol.

If I knew it wasn't going to fit I'd tell them.. if they asked and I didn't know I'd be honest and say I don't know.. No point bullshiting to make as a sale as it'll just give you shit to deal with after and you wouldn't be happy if it was the other way round!

depends if I knew them or not, if they asked me outright whether it would fit I would tell them. But if they bought it without asking, even if I suspected it was going onto a car where it wouldn't fit I wouldn't say anything.

It's up to the buyer to research the product/part as to whether it is compatible not the seller.

98% of the time I can't be arsed to sell something so it goes on the shit pile then if some one want's it, they can have it so can't complain then.

JoshB
10th January 2011, 22:29
As said, I would be completely honest about something. But if something was to go wrong with a product days/hours/minutes after I'd just sold it, knowing it was in full working order when I sold it, there would be no warranty from me I'm afraid.

For example, a mate of mine sold a car, lad came to look at it, liked it, car was in really good condition, had a look at the engine bay, my mate put the bonnet down, lad handed cash over, sale done. About an hour later, lad shows up at my mates door with no bonnet on the car and smashed windscreen. "you didnt put the bonnet down properly, I want a full refund, like a nonce my mate gave in to him. I'd have told him where to go...

I'm honest in what I sell. No point in fucking somebody over :/ if its broke I'd give them the money back.

Ps. You tried that gearbox yet?

CraigLovelock

Everyman for himself i say.

However, if its done to you in the first place...

Like you buy a car and find out its got an issue, selling it on and not saying about it is acceptable...

That reminds me, got a 3 piece sofa suite from DFS sale, fits straight into saxo. Any takers?

always tried to be honest when selling stuff it only bites your arse in the end

Depends on the person tbh.

The bloke I got my Civic off told me every fault with it, and the morning before I picked it up, he'd taken it to a garage to get a map problem fixed, at no extra cost to me. Even though the deal was signed and sealed.
Because of that I knew he was trustworthy, so it saved me spending ages going over the car looking for faults.

The lad who bought my Saxo on the other hand, was a chavvy twat with no insurance.
So I didn't bother telling him about any of the faults with it.

I am really honest.
Althought I told some guy on eBay that when I was selling my Pipercross Filter it was the best filter ever made for a VTR.
