View Full Version : Altenater out ov 97vtr fit 00vtr

Hi guys.. My altenater went the other day,got a 2nd hand one which i had to drive over 50miles to get it,got home went to change it and it was a diffrent altenater,is there anyway i can make this work as i am in bad need ov my vtr to get going again.. The earth wire wont reach but i can add wire on,and the 00vtr has a black block connecter that the 97 duznt.. Any ideas welcome.. Thanks guys

Extend your earth wire (solder then heatshrink)cut the black plug off & put a ring connector on

Yeh i can do the earth part.. But am abit worried about the block connecter,wher do i put the wires after i cut them.. Thanks for the reply

is there 2 wires coming out of the plug ?

its only for the light on the dash anyways but you would have to cut off the plug then try both wires on the new alternator and see which one turns off the light on the dash

Yes but when i cut the block off where do the wires go? Theres the big earth connection and a smaller connection on the 97alt,would the cut wires go on to this smaller connection

And it is it the two wires out ov the connecter i put to D?..

yeah the positive goes on B+ then im sure its D that puts the light out dude , can you post up a pic of the two alternators to make sure ?
