Hi All,

First time post but having a fair few problems recently that i couldnt locate on here so here it goes.

Having problems with my clutch and gearbox in that the gears are stiff changing up and down, sometimes 3rd decides pop out and i have to arm wrestle 1st in to the point were i think ill snap the gear stick and it now seems my clutch seems to be having problems in that its making a considerable amount of noise when depressing the clutch like a whooshing type of sound.

I dont know whether the gearbox problem is a result of the clutch failing maybe but any help would be really helpful.

Cheers

Hi mate,

yeah it was the clutch, it was the release bearing that was shearing through the teeth on the clutch plate! only had a few teeth left and was close to going through which would of just nailed the car.

mine was like a wheezing squeaking noise when depressing the clutch and it would keep making that noise until the clutch released.

i brought a cheap clutch from euro car parts about £46 quid and then luckily know a garage who did the work for £100.

i was quoted on nationwide autocentres website £496 so dont go there!

aye, have most of my work done by a garage near me so i dont get specialist treatment but i don't get bent over!

£496 could do much more than a clutch!! conning bastards

i know i only paid £800 for the car ffs! they tried charge me 270 for a cat mot before last. saying that i had to replace the entire manifold took it another auto centre and they replaced the cat for £120! then took it the cheaper place this year for a mot and they tried charge me £260 for a brand new cat even though mine was in warranty! garages take the piss but im lucky now a friend at work has a mate and he does it all for me now for 1/5th of the price.

very true. my garage, rather than enlisting themselves to fixing my mums 306 (hg failure and excessive pressure in the head!) simply told us to get rid as it wasn't worth spending that amount of money on, even though it would have netted them £700!
