the famous Ring, is rumoured to be closing, for races as they are "loosing" money on it.

150Euro for a taxi trip, that costs them 300!

talk.

Like bollocks it's £150 Euros for the Ring taxi. It was more than that when we were there last year and it was fully booked until this year!

Judging by the number of cars and bikes that were out there I doubt the track is making a loss tbh

How the fuck do they lose money, it's a road, they rise you for eveything. Recovery costs more than a house.

Why would a business operate not making a profit on everything they can?

surely all these nurburgring branded cars actually pay good money to test on the track and brand as such, sounds like a rumour to me.

Well the amount of cars ive seen this past year with a nurburgring sticker on the back clearly shows business is going good. Almost 3 cars on every road have been! Corsa B's, Bedford Rascals', Vauxhall Frontera, alsorts! Cant be doin bad.

The ring is one of the biggest attractions in the world, no way there loosing any profit, at the end of the day its a PUBLIC road you pay to drive on, its obviously bought outright, therefore theres no losses ever, in revenue each year, they have to be making a good few million.

Oh fuck!

Dont tell hardcorejoeboy, he will be gutted! Every comparison he has involves either b8s or the ring.

On the plus side his ring tax disc holder will be on antiques roadshow in a few years.

Full story:
http://jalopnik.com/5684589/save-the-nurburgring

Basically, some idiot company bought it out. Built a shit load of stuff in the middle which noone goes to, now it's operating at a loss.

Since it's opening in 1927, the Nurburgring has been under complete public ownership and administration, but in May of this year the complete Nurburgring race track and park was rented out to two privateers (Kai Richter, Jörg Lindner). They have no motorsports background whatsoever, but are the driving forces behind the makeover, which includes the addition of a theme park with a new roller coaster that doesn't work, more hotel capacity than the area needs, a 3,000-seat event arena, and a shopping mall. Everything appears to be far too big and remains empty most of the time.

They promised private financing, but this soon turned out to be a fake. The Minister of Finance had to resign as a consequence. Despite lack of funding completion of the project continued.

The heavy burden now sitting on Nordschleife's shoulder is the debt of approximately 400 Million Euros, which seems completely unnecessary considering complete race tracks have been constructed for a fraction of this amount.
