Ok, literally ready to book a holiday to New York.

Do I need a visa?
How do I obtain one?
How much are they?

No you don't.

Because you're from the UK, you're eligible for the Visa Waiver Program. Where you won't need a visa to visit on business or pleasure for less than 90 days. All you need is your passport.

It's amazing what can be achieved from using Google for 60 seconds. :S

you wont need a paper visa but can apply for a ESTA - Electronic System for Travel Authorization online as the UK is a visa waiver country.
youll get it through dhs.gov or go to a US embassy.

pretty sure its £14 to apply now, but it was free when my gf went last summer.

obviously saxperience is full of american immigration experts and embassy officials.

us or uk immigration would have been a clever place to look to start with

I miss the days when Google was the first place to look before forums or posting a Facebook status. </3

One day everyone in the world will have Saxp Forum as their home page, have SaxpForum phones.

The common phrase 'google it' will be replaced with 'saxp it'

Saxp will have a whole building in Canary Wharlf and each member will have their own think pad to think about their Saxo VTR with VTS wheels and lowered 40mm.

if your not staying for a long time, its just a holiday then you dont need one, your return flight details is what would confirm this, so if your planning on not coming back then book a return ticket, else they will ask lots of questions!

We have an agreement with the US meaning UK citizens qualify for the 'Visa Waiver Program' (google it) which means you do not need a visa as such but have to fill out a green slip on the plane which you hand to thier immigration agents when you go through the airport terminal

Since January 2010 (I think) you also need to apply for an ESTA (link above in another post)
