ICV ,coolant temp sensor both can cause this so can a faulty lambda sensor.

Start mate with the cheapest ie 1st off clean the icv using the guide on here, the coolant temp sensor(mine cost aound £13.00)then as a last resort change the lambda sensor(get a genuine 1 ie Bosch as ebay 1`s are rubbish)If the engine management light is on then get it hooked up to a diagnostics machine 1st & save yourself some pennies.
