alot of them arent insured left as the original car on the logbook so get better performance with the same if not cheaper insurance

Yeah until they have to claim and Mr Insurance man comes expecting an 8v car and sees a 16v one.

These people are trained in trying to spot deception so will know you have done the conversion.

yeah its not very clever. I mean i dont really have a problem with undeclared simple mods that either they wont even realise/ or can be easily removed but an engine is taking it a little far

you can all come round and check my docs if you want,

why do you all asume that everyone is a prick who wouldn't declare it?

I'm with Flux

Rang them last week to ask how much it will increase my premium once my 16v is in?

Going to be an extra 15%, which is £50 for me :)

Benefits of being an experienced driver mate :)

More experience = lower premium
Less experience = higher premium

Doesn't work like that, if you put it on the v5 that it's had an engine change, declare the now engine number etc and cylinder capacity then tell the insurance its had a new engine with the cylinder capacity then they will change the price. and engine swap isn't nessecarily a mod, it could be a repair.

Engine swap would be a repair, engine upgrade would be a mod surely?
