Hi, well, where do i start.
I bought a tv in 08 from currys and i took out whatever happens cover with, what appears to be a bunch of monkeys.
Any way this tv developed a very awkward intermittent fault where by peoples faces go green and sometimes pink. Its like orbs/ patches of discolouration. (Before anyone says, No its not a loose scart, HDMI or anything, Its definately the TV, im very good with AV equipment)
So Repair 1. Guy comes out, Resets it. Sorted.
A week later it happens again.
Repair 2. They take it away and it comes back to me with " no fault seen " on it, so fuck all was done.. Also, Now, Im Missing the power plug i sent with the tv. Over a week later i get a new one.
A couple weeks or so later, Happens again.
Repair 3. They take it away again ( I sent pictures of the fault this time), Comes back with factory reset AGAIN.
few weeks later, happens again.
Repair 4. Same old bollocks, Factory reset / No fault seen They send it back. Again with no plug. So i have to ask for yet another one. Also in transition im noticing the tv is gettin pretty knocked up and dusty.
Repair 5 (about august last year) They take the TV. Replace the screen (supposedly) and i have a reciept of fix which apparently cost them £960 pounds, Tellies was £470 New.
Ok so now were gettin more recent... Now im not going to lie, ive been waiting for it to break again. If not i was going to destroy it and claim accidental damage. But the other day, Green faces again flicked on for a sec and also since they put the new screen in it has major quick image burn, Which is annoying. Sky channel banners can be seen when it disappears.
I phoned them the other day and now they rekon they`re going to try and repair it again. Ive phoned up trading standards and they have said im entitled to argue they have had more than enough chances to fix it so i need a new one under the 1970's (i think) .....sales of goods act.
Where do i stand, Sorry about the long post but they're taking the piss out of me now and i told the guy on the phone that he might as well tell his engineer not to bother fixing it cause i DO NOT want the TV back. If i dont get a new one or vouchers for a like for like replacement im taking it further... Am i within my rights to do this ? :wall: Well its either that or i go American on their ass and take out 10 people with a high powered rifle lol.

my bfs laptop is like 5 years old, it goes in for repair every month or so with something else wrong, i dont know why they dont just replace the whole thing, theyve changed nearly every part on it and its always got a new fault straight after it comes back.
i dont think they like replacing things lol

dont get me started with currys, i bought a laptop, then 5 months later, it wouldn't charge at all, so wouldn't turn on eventually, so sent it to them, kept sending it back saying it was fine, sent it back for the fourth time, and was told " yes, the laptop needs replacing" morons!!

It just seems that they feel they can take this tv back 100 times and still fix it. They dont know what they're doing, Clearly. I want a replacement TV. God help the person who phones me in a week to tell me a delivery date for the repaired TV, Ill just tell her, ram it up your arse !

dont buy from currys anymore, if buying a computer i go to the smaller shops, much better customer service, as they want your business.
hope you get it all sorted

You heard right, but I'm busy right now. iJoke
Seriously, listen to trading standards, I'd ring Curry's and explain the situation, explain what trading standards have told you, see what happens. Gogogogo.

The best of it is.. i thnk it was the 4th breakdown the manager from the currys store put a write off notice on the form attached to the tele, and they collected it from the store so currys could explain to them..... Tech guys ignored it and sent it me back UN-fixed. I will never buy another item from currys again. I wouldnt mind but its cost the tech guys more to piss about than to give me a replacement in the first place. They trully are a bunch of rug rats.

You are well within your rights to ask for a replacement. As you have Said it has been sent back to them and fixed several times. So it is obviously a faulty item. I would just tell them you have spoken to trading standards and if they don't give you a replacement you Will take it further as it is not acceptable that they keep trying to fix it. There arse will fall out and they should sort you a replacement. If that fails just go into your nearest store and just take one!!! Lol

I did ask the manager (I bought the tele off him as I knew I'd get a better deal) if I fell on my tele drunk and smashed the screen would it be covered and he said yes..
Now compared to other insurances I've had in the past like phone insurance for example I thaught it sounded a really good deal!

Its not the insurance. Period... Its the way they try to handle people aswell, In this case me. The one time the guy came out to my house ( Bearing in mind i did a Extended diploma in sound engineering at college ) He Tried to tell me it was the small (7 inch squared ) surround sound speakers that are on my wall, About 6 foot away from my tv. I swiftly quashed that with, Yeah but those are magnetically shielded So its impossible that they could cause the fault. He just looked at me, gormless.

Im not sure of the model number as the TV is currently in the hands of them bunch of sausages. Its a 32 inch one. All black and its a Philips. Its has Free View too its HD ready, It was about 479 back in september 08. Last time i would buy a philps tv. My misses payed less than that for her 32 inch Samsung, Picture quality is crisp and its operated flawlessly. Id be perfectly happy if they gave me vouchers to get a new tv of my choice. Id go for a samsung or LG maybe.... Im not sure which is the best make...Apart from my experience with samsung which appears to be good.
The fault is weird, its like, erm, watching Smurfs in green.... hang on ill upload a pic and show you.......
Heres a few pics of what its like, Bearing in mind one minute its not doing it then Pow! Saturday night when your watching a movie. It likes to do it then. Then it goes off, and back on, and so on. http://img19.imageshack.us/g/dsc01375c.jpg/ One of those pics just spells the term " Going green " Quite literally.

Has a magnet been near it at all? I saw this happen to a tele once after a kid decided it would be a good idea to hold a magnet near the screen.
Or another thing i know made a screen go green was the use of some sort of cleaner. Not sure what cleaner it was, but it affected the screen somehow.

No, No magnets fella, Or any cleaner in particular. If i do clean it its usualy a wipe over with a soft dry cloth around the bezel, Not on the actually LCD.
