Well me and the misses looking at gettin our own place...
Both have full time jobs, I work sorta 6 x 12 hour days, and she does like 9 - 5, so yea..not gonna be there an awful amount, just want our own space and stuff.
Just wondering what sorta prices you lot pay for electricity, gas, water and sewerage council tax, that sorta shit..
I know rent is going to depend on my area..but its not to badly priced, looking at about 450 a month..ish.
Cheers.

Renting is not a great option. Prevents you from saving for your own place and your paying someone elses mortgage. Can you not move into her house or her move into yours??

no?
Im in the process of moving out, looking at around 150-200 on bills round where I live (counsel tax, gas, electicity, water) then theres food, car insurance, fuel etc etc.
You need to sit down and work out how much you can afford.

I wont ever buy my own place. Parents are buying me, my brother and sister one when we all hit 25..so I have to rent until then. Spoilt I know..
I dont own a car anymore, she does..so insurance is cheaper for her..ish.
Yea, between us..we get about..1500 a month...surely enough to live on?

Lol what?
Anyway, I think there are sites that can calculate this sort of stuff, try googling living costs or something, might give a rough Idea.

You'll be fine cash wise.
Just bare in mind you need savings so you can set the home up, you will obviously have to pay a couple of months up front. Also you need to have at least a couple of hundred in an 'emergency fund'.

between us..we get about..1500 a month
whaaaat.
So you do 72 hours a week, she does 40. Together you do 112h a week, or 448h a month..
£1500/448 = £3.35?
Surely you must be on more than that. thats crazy low

LOL, mathematical genius.
£1500 does seem a bit low. :detective:
Still enough to live off but is there a reason why you are intent on moving out now or can you wait a bit longer until your both qualified?
You'd have to make some sacrifices and get used to budgeting.

Im a student and live in a house with 2 others, small 3 bedroom house in oxford city clsoe to centre with drive space for 2 cars and garden. quick break down of costs
£995 pcm
£20 p/w on gas + electric
£55ish pcm for virgin phone tv internet
£150ish a year for water (guessing at this as other lad sorts this bit out)
I get hardly any loan at all, infact my loan each year only jsut covers half a years rent. I run my car, manage to go out everynow and then and live pretty comfortably (not in my overdraaft and no loans etc apart from student one) i bring in about £200 a week on average working part time
edit: costs is divded down middle for 3 people. so works out roughly at £380 a month each

Most chefs are paid salary....soooo annoying.
Yea, when she qualifies it'll be ok, we just want our own space. Starting to accumlate alot of stuff, and living with her mother doesnt give us enough space.

There's sooooooooo many threads on this now.
Average cost is £1000/month including all bills.
Haven't had any issues living with my gf. Infact I really like it.
It's much better than living apart. You see each other during the week so you don't have to devote whole weekends/days to doing stuff together. Can just go out together whenever you fancy it.
Also get ridiculous amounts of sex, not having to worry about parents being in. :y:

My rent is £425 a month with my council tax, rent, TV licence, contense cover it comes to about £520 a month so not to expensive. Then every 3 month I get gas, water and electric bill for about £60 each. And we are still managing to save for a deposit on a house. We both work full time and are only in the house weekends and on a night after 6pm. I personally think renting is worth the money just for your own space

Would just like to point out that you can't guess at Council Tax. Its virtually set in stone per property (unless someone asks for a review) and is really easy to find out how much it is once you've got somewhere you want to live.
Rather than ask us, ask:
http://www.voa.gov.uk/council_tax/cti_home.htm <--- check your local council's website for how much it'll be for the year, then divide by 10 = how much you pay per month.
Any Supplier: Ask for an average bill for a property with council tax band (Fill In Gap) for average use, or even high use to ensure you'll have enough money in a set postcode.
Tadah. Bills that you HAVE to pay are now estimated. Then it's living costs e.g. food, telephone, tv license etc. But the above is what you HAVE to pay + rent.
Please ignore every post on here guessing and presuming their costs will be the same as yours...
I've seen so many different life styles in tenants, some have no money what so ever but are always out, going places. Then I've seen scatty tenants who do 'sweet fa' and leave the property with several thousands in the bank because they've only lived on baked beans and shit like that. Follow the above for an estimate, then add what you 'want' to pay for things on top

£250 per week/72 hours.. or in real terms £3.47 a hour.
You may want to consider a new career before opting to move out buddy.
My advice is to sort yourself out first because its twice as hard when you are living away from home.
