its insane.
Ive been told if you take the rear beam off its no longer a 'car' by definition, and therefore no insurance is needed. may be wrong

Fuck that. My wheels aint touching any tax payed tarmac and im not contributing to any pollution. Ive got nothing to be fined for or contribute to with a car thats off the road.

I didnt think they could, as you arnt driving an uninsured car on a public highway...
They cant fine you if its on your own property, otherwise farmers and that with field cars, and just farm cars and quads, will all need to be insured..

Hang on its fine and I agree with it. Abit of chinese whispers I think has happened.
Basically you get fined £100 if you insurance expire and your car isnt SORN. Last year my insurance was transferred from my saxo to my 307 and I didnt decalre the saxo sorn for a good 3 months and I wasnt fined. However, from spring time if that was to happen then I would get fined £100 for having a car not declared sorn and also uninsured.
The new rules mean that your car must always be insured - on or off the highway - unless it is officially registered with the DVLA as being off the road under what is known as Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN).
nothings changed really, just a £100 fine sooner for not decalring a car sorn cant have a single day of it being neither by sounds of it. Must be some leeway of like 5 days at least?
Basically a car has to be either insured or sorn 365 days a year.
We're safe guys, dont worry lol

Maybe it'll arrive as it's already in place in France and you even have to have little 50cc pocket bikes and quads insured even if they stay on your own land :panic:
The argument the state gives is that if someone nicks them and has an accident with another person the 3rd party can claim agains't your insurance - great logic so we're paying insurance now for thieves who nick our stuff :wall:
I've not declared not insured my boy's quads nor my dirt bikes and if some fucker wants to steal them then it's not car insurance he'll be needing but medical once my dogs have had a go :boxing:

I think to insure a car you need a valid mot.
So insuring sorn cars would be impossible 99% of the time
