Ok i noticed my engine management light come on whilst driving home and noticed a burning smell which smells like an alternator belt when its slipping. When i start my car in the morning when cold it makes a slight squeek when the engine turns over and the belt squeeks very quietly for a while until the engine is warm. It has been doing this for a couple of weeks but now its obviously starting to smell like its burning but it seems tight enough. Does my belt just need replacing or is it something more serious?

Its probably too tight if its burning, just slacken it off a little, there is 1 bolt that holds the alternator in place and the other long threaded one that needs to be unscrewed a turn or two.

Just been to see a mechanic i know and he checked it for me, its not tight enough he said so im going to tighten it up a little. Also the engine light was just a lambda sensor with it being de-catted.

With you EML your coming on because of it being de-catted you need to put a sleeve on 1 of the lambda sensors.:drink:
