steering rack, easy to change?

as title, have a vtr (if that makes a difference) and it needs a new rack, is it a bad job to do? and how long has it taken yo to do in ther past? thanks, nath

They are a bitch to do. You can do it with the engine in but i wouldnt want to.

It all depends who you are lol i know people that say they are easy and others that say they are hard..... my opinion from my knowledge they are hard and alot of effort.

its the sort of thing i do for a living and try to avoid doing them lol, and theres not much i won't take on!

It looks like a bollack ache, i'd take the engine out to do it personally and give the whole lot a clean etc. Make a weekend of it.
