Hi all new to the site, just drove home from work and as soon as i started driving i heard a 'pop' then my exhaust sounded like it was a 8" sports exhaust or something, pulled into the layby and stuck my head underneath
basically i know nothing about cars but there is a hole at the front (black hole) about an inch in size, also there is something hanging down on some sort of wire which i assume used to cover the hole
i managed to get it home 18 miles but its blowing like anything
Anybody no what it could be and will i be ok from driving it the next few days
Could do with it til the w/end then get it in the garage

Not much you can do - just get it to Kwik Fit or similar and get it patched or replaced.
If there is no performance drop off then there is no problem with driving it - it will just make sure everyone knows you are coming until then.

Throigh photobucket mate, although i dnt know how to do it.
Sounds like the lambda sensor has blown out. Was it the one at the top of the exhaust were it firtst leaves the engine (pre cat) or the one at the bottom of the pipe? (post cat)?

yea your lambda sensor has blown out you need a new center section, im guessing you have a mk2 with two lambdas? you might need a new sensor as well if you cant get the old one out, or you could get someone to weld it back in

Don't let them rip you off mate, the centre section should cost no more than £40 (if you bought it yourself, it would be about £25) and the labour for fitting that is no more than half an hour (~£20). So if they say; Oooooo, its an expensive job, £80 part and 3 hours labour - then tell them no thanks :y:
