When I'm washing the Saxo, you can see some kind of greasy marks on the bumpers. For anyone not sure on what i mean, at the top of the front and rear bumper is a black lip. It is a rough plastic material made of tiny bumps (not sure what this is called!)

One day when I was cleaning the car, I tried some of the Autoglym Tyre dressing I had on the black plastics, and ever since it has left greasy marks all over it.

Any idea on how I can remove them? You can't see them at all when the car is dry, only when I am trying to get the bumpers to look less grey.

Here's a picture for reference.

What trim dressing are you using ?

Sounds like you just have grease of some sort on them or rubbish dressing. Spray on some APC solution and give all the strips a good scrub with a stiff brush, should get rid of the marks/left over dressing. Then when following up with a trim dressing, buff quite hard about an hour or so after you've applied the dressing. This is to make sure it's fully into the trim and then it won't go all streaky/greasy.

I would recommend Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel for your bump strips, apply a very small amount and work into the trim, until the trim is nice and covered. Then buff again a while later.

Or you could get some G-Techniq C4 and forget about treating the bump strips for a long time lol.

Its a common problem and happens with about 90% of trim gels....they look awesome but streak like f*** when they get wet.

As above really use a All Puropose Cleaner or just use a citrus based shampoo.

Been advised to use a heat gun on them before I fuck about with gels

Anyone done this?

Yeah it works, but I wouldn't do it unless the trim was extremely faded as its quite risky. I did it on a 26 year old golf & it worked a treat.
