Right i just phoned up a cheap mobile mechanic i know, to lower my car for me. He asked what size the springs are and they are -35mm. He was saying that will ther be enough tension between the original damper and the new spring as it is shorter and may leave to much room for play.

Will theese be fine on standard furio dampers, or do i have to buy new ones? Im allready thinking they will fit as many people have done it before and never mentioned anything about it but just want to make sure before i go paying out then finding they wont fit.

Thanks for any help in advance :y:

Is he really a mechanic??

They will fit fine, no issues what so ever.

Standard dampers can go to 50mm so you will have no problems

Yeah they will definately fit fine, but won't last forever!

make sure he does the rear properly, sounds like someone who will do the splines method

Yeh he is, he is a sound bloke so just wanted me to make sure they were the correct dampers, before he fitted the springs and took my money. I mean i know a thing or 2 about cars but when it comes to modding so to speak its all new to me.

35mm should be fine mate. If you were to go lower than 40mm then you would have to get better dampers. But the standard dampers will be fine with the 35mm springs

He means there are a couple of ways of lowering the rear, a good and a bad way. Some cowboys would lower the rear by using the 'splines' or 'notches' method which basically means rotating the bars by a number of clicks to get the desired height. If you want your rear beam to last any amount of time stay clear if you here any of these terms mentioned!

The correct way would to be to completely remove the torsion bars, raise up the trailing arms to the desired height then re-insert the bars. Just ask him generally how he plans to go about it and see from there.

Also, it would be perfectly driveable with the standard dampers, however I think it impairs the handling as the oem shocks are not designed to be used with shortened springs. And they would probably last quite a bit over a year, then would need replacing, ideally with uprated dampers.

I went down 60mm on standard dampers (lowered for about a year on standard dampers, which still weren't leaking, and looked fine when they came out) and my springs didn't become unseated at full extension. I can see his concern, if he doesn't do stuff like that regularly.
