Got some new number plates to go onto the car, current ones are screwed on whereas the new ones don't have any holes so look likely to be stuck on.

What have people used and found to be the best thing to stick them on with ?

I use the hot sticky jizz of a cross eyed Llama.

Otherwise, I'd recommend drilling holes or maybe some uber tough adhesive.

You can get sticky pads in halfords, theses stronger than you'd think. But if your worried actu people stealing them get those screws with a funny head on them so they cant be undone without a special tool

How likely are they to break if I drill holes through them

Though will look cleaner with tape on them behind

The pads are plenty strong enough mate, I have them on my car.

But when drilling plastic dont go all the way through in one go, drill a little bit then stop then do bit more, so the drills only on the plastic for a second or 2.

I have to fit numberplates as part of my job... Best way is sellotape the old ones to the top of new ones then drill through the old holes to make new ones ;)

Bluetac....ideal, retro old skool

Though will go with the tape idea.

Is it tape or pads ?

tbh it depends on how secure you want them on

ive used the double sided sticky pads before and lost a plate (only once and i used them loads of times)

i prefer to make new holes and screw them on

i have a glue here, which will melt the two items you want bonding together, wether its plastics, light metals etc... and then it dries them together, so it wont seperate.

but i just use double sided tape tbf. screw caps look tacky as fuck.
if anyone nicks your plates, just call the insurance and rozzers first thing, before you go driving around.

im taping the new plate on the 6!

Looks better having the caps on then having rusty screw heads, and harder to steal if there screwed on.:drink:

Tbh, wouldnt say makes it harder to steal, as theyve already bought a screwdriver to get them off so chances are they have something to pop the cap off.

I second this motion.

Holds both my plates on, most of the electronics in my RC race cars, as well as various objects around the house which are now pretty permanently held together.

Best results if you heat each side of the tape before application.
