So my dad woke up at 5 this morning to be on his way out the house and see my car on the drive had been damaged. It was dark so he couldnt really see what had happened. He did see that back window had been smashed with a brick.
http://i53.tinypic.com/2gvsgb7.jpg
I just been out there, the exhaust has been ripped off out of place, so its nearly touching the floor, both wing mirrors kicked off and are hanging, and the arial has been fucked about with.
I have contacted the police, and they said they will come round and investaigate.
I have decided i'm going to have to invest in some half decent cctv.
Im also going to ask round the neighbours to see if they know/heard/seen anything at all.
I went to bed around 12 so between then and 5 thats when it happened.
What should i do now? Where am i going to get a new back window from?
Are they expensive?
I am not made of money so what is a decent cctv system you have at home?
any links or anything to some?
I cant describe how angry this had made me feel.
Thanks.

Someone did this to my Integra.
It cost me £1200 for a new rear screen and I had to wait 2 weeks for it to come from Japan.
Police came out. Did fuck all.

Bloody hell, sorry to see that some people dont really deserve to breathe, why would they do that?
As for your back window, scrappers shouldnt be mega expensive, and somebody on the forums might know of a cheap one.

They might have just put their foot on it and bounced up and down?
Seriously, if you live in a cul de sac, your car specifically has been singled out, so you must have some idea of who it was?

We have a cctv system in our unit. Was £150 and has sound, clear picture and it will transmit the picture to our home tv's (over 3 miles away).
I'll try to find a link for you.
Rear window shouldn't be any more than £100 from a scrap yard and are easy to fit.

lil buggers man, can't yu claim or with the growin cost of insurance i'd weigh up the feasiblility of it all. Similar thing happened to me, first day i had my Sax some lil faggots jumped on my front bumper breaking it off, took a screwdriver to my door and prised it open and nicked me week old stereo.
All the best mate and tbh Popo won't do a tremendous amount, you'd be better having a discussion with your insurers in regards to a claim and how much you could expect your premium to rise by in doing so etc.
Good luck mate.

IMO don't rely on the police.. they did FUCK all when my car got smashed up... pretty much like yours :(
Someone got a grudge against you or summit? As said earlier they must have been there a while cos of the exhaust damage.
You can get back windows pretty cheap and fitted quite easily mate so D/W too much about it. Auto Glass ftw!
and Yeh get some CCTV fitted. I've got some around my house and it helped catch the b******* who tried nicking my bro's motorbike :)

Ah bugger, this happened to me, but in a public car park...came back and my vts was damaged down the passenger side, foot prints on it...obviously deliberate!
On another note, just WHAT do you people expect the police to do? Especially in the case of a Saxo that's probably worth less than a grand? They can't spend their entire day sat around debating who might of put a window through, can they? If you have neighbours who saw something, get the info and report that too.
The police get as hard a time as the NHS from people who know a whole load about fuck all.

CCTV is usually a waste of time, all it does is allows you to watch over and over your car being done over :(
Invest in a decent proxi alarm, security glass film (most tinted windows have this these days).
But by the looks of it and the time it would take to do all that, someone really doesnt like you :(

Massively deters people if somethings visible (doesn't mean to say they won't smash the camera up too though, so usually worth setting up a dummy to deter and a real one to record elsewhere) but if it's hidden then you're likely going to be able to ID the culprit, especially if it has night time vision capabilities. That way, the Police actually CAN do something and you have one less little scamp to worry about :)

Welcome to the modern middle ages. We're sat at this weird cross roads between trying to be politically correct while establishing clear cut rules for people to live by.
Too many people know they can do a lot of bad shit now and the consequences will be minimal.
It frustrates the living shit out of me, but you just have to live with it. In the grand scheme of things, we've got it very good here. (albeit at a price)

No, police can't do anything, he has no proof let alone idea of who has done this. Set up a cctv system, if you do it well it'll either put them off or give you a little more evidence to give to the police next time it happens. Have any neighbours got cctv? I caught a group of chavs on my cctv, walking past my house then over the road where they smashed a neighbours car window. His cctv was useless as they'd put their hoods up but as they walked past my house they were down and easy to ID. Cheep and easy way to set up a cctv system is on a PC with a program like CAM wizard you can connect 4 usb infra red cameras and set up certain areas or the whole screen to be motion sensors.
Even if police an't do anything you may be able to find out who has a grudge and get it sorted out!!!

My Old GTi 180 got done over like that, with paving slabs where the fuck they got them is beyond me either way it's a fucking awful feeling, the Police did fuck all didn't even come out the lazy Chingford Police (always a let down this branch)
Cost me £500 for a new windscreen as it wasn't going through my already sky high insurance (4.5k TPFT) and the other windows cost something like £250, bodywork stayed fucked.
In all I was a grand in debt with my old man, and even after all this time, IF I EVER find out who it was I will put them in a wheel chair.

Depends, really I have my ways if I need them though as i'm sure others do, either way i'm not about to discuss it on a forum and the likelihood of it happening is very slim. To add, if you met me in real life i'm not an arse, I actually go out of my way for a quiet life. But, I do believe in justice, and since the local police can't bring it, I would.

Haha, watched Pulp Fiction one too many times Jamie. Reality is, like pretty much everyone else, you're not hard as fuck, you don't know anyone hard as fuck and you just sound plain silly. Proper keyboard warrior activity going on there.

fuck the cctv, a decent alarm would be the first thing because
1.) itll alert you its happening so you can see/catch/kill the fuckers
2.) more likely to deter them if it makes noises
3.) be useful elsewhere other than your house and attract attention
once uve got an alarm, if you have money get cctv too, but human eyes are better than dark blurry images of people with hoods up

Im sure every week someone has done something to your car? Just this week its a bit more pricey. Police wont do fuck all to help. When I needed the police to catch someone, they didnt do anything for months, then about 8 months later said, we have found some CCTV that could be the who we are looking for, do you remember what they look like. Of course i fucking dont, i put it all behind me. Now surely they could have got the CCTV the next day.

Alarms are...rubbish. It's just a daft squeely noise to wake you up earlier than you'd like to let you know your cars been totalled.
I'd rather have a good nights sleep and wake up to the same damage, that way at least I wouldn't fall down the stairs trying to catch the people responsible, to find there's 6 of them in hoodies while I'm stood there in my boxer shorts/Y-fronts/birds knickers wondering why I'd put myself through all the expense and effort of an alarm to simply get my head kicked in and photos taken of me to end up on the internets with 'lol fail' put on them. Know what I mean?

How did you not hear all this going on just feet from your door.
I honestly dont know, my bedroom is at the front, and i didnt hear a hear, niether did the neighbours or my parents, probably becuase the wind was so bad.
fuck the cctv, a decent alarm would be the first thing because
1.) itll alert you its happening so you can see/catch/kill the fuckers
2.) more likely to deter them if it makes noises
3.) be useful elsewhere other than your house and attract attention
once uve got an alarm, if you have money get cctv too, but human eyes are better than dark blurry images of people with hoods up
i'm pm'ing mr_toad and getting one fitted next week.

I have CCTV set up at home. Simply put a PCIe Card in the back of my computer then hooked up to some cameras. Not the best picture in the world as the cars are across the street but the clear red glow from the IR is a real deterrent.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a fake camera, most work on the basis of a single flashing LED somewhere on it and don't really look real. Just as well get a cage and put it over the real one.

WHAT IF....they had:
a gun
a samurai sword
a laser gun/sword
a donk (see crocodile dundee two)
a massive long baseball bat with a laser knife gun on the end
moral: It simply ain't worth it, the danger vs reward ratio is very unbalanced AND at the end of the day, it's a Saxo, not a Mclaren F1.
Well said son.

sorry to here about it mate, you can get fake cctv that has a red led on it,making iot look real, it may be a cheaper way of acting as a deterrent for mindless idiots

For fifty quid a day I will buy you a decoy Saxo so while they're busy smashing up your Saxo you can tear of in your Saxo.

Do you not have windscreen cover? It covers rear windows too. I always make sure I have it. £70 excess > £300 bill.
Mirrors should be cheap enough and the exhaust probably has knackered mounts.
Police can't do much without evidence.
CCTV is fine, but it'd need to be half decent to warrant having it.

put a big arse dog in the car
would be funny to watch them do it again and get mauled by the dog jumping through the window at them :)
