Right ive decided to bite the bullet so to speak and go get myself a VTR, that means the forte is up for sale but thats another matter.

Question is, is there anything in particular to look for when VTR/VTS buying, thats different to the basic saxo.

cheers

Just look for the standard things on any car mate

In my experience saxos are famous for sticky ICV's and dodgy back axles, everything else is just part and parcel of owning a rattly, badly built old french car :)

Check the car isnt leaking anything
Check its not overheating (if you can)
Check the paperwork to make sure the mileage ties up etc
Make sure the engine revs ok with no odd noises
Make sure the steering is ok, left to right
Make sure it goes into gear ok

Get the person to take you for a test drive

Check for rust

+ all other standard car checks

mines high milage, probably driven to death and only has normal wear and tear problems due to the milage. engine still pulls great, just needs a new ICV and a good service!

check for sunroof leaks, ask to drive it, check gearbox, brakes etc. all normal stuff.

The Lady Owner part is a load of bollox if you ask me!!! I'd rather a car off someone who has driven it well but, kept on top of servicing and general upkeep. Most women I know who own cars, wouldn't have a clue how to check the coolant, change oil and filter, let alone diagnose common problems ie CV joints etc, therefore run them into the ground until they "breakdown" they're cars are basically moving skips full of rubbish, and in my opinion 50% can't change a gear without spine tingling crunches from the gear box. I'm not saying all women are like this but, but I know if I saw an ad for a car which was advertized as lady owner I'd steer well clear.

Nah. Mean's (even if they do get ripped off) that it's usually garage repaired at Citroen.

One female owner ups the price of a vehicle for a reason.

Sorry about that.
