View Full Version : I have a new car :) Clio RS 197 Pics Page 4

Well after looking at many different cars I decided upon the 197 and viewed about 5 in total, the one I ended up buying being 4miles from where I live amazingly!!

So...

The car is a 2007 Nimbus Grey RS 197 which is totally standard with 25k on the clock!

It is flawless and comes with over 12 months MOT and 6month tax and has just been serviced.

I pick it up tommorow at 5pm so will get some pictures on as soon as I get tore away from my car, I have written this now as I know I won't get time otherwise!!

Got some nice plans for it so will create a progress thread on here for her :)

Initial plans for the car are:-

1. Paint the wheels Anthracite or black
2. Paint the Brembo calipers red I think but unsure (silver atm)
3. Paint badges anthracite or use carbon badges
4. Projector Lights...
5.Coilovers

This is the kind of look I am after, and the reason I got a Nimbus!!
(At least theres something to look at instead of just writing)

WISH ME LUCK :)

Was going to ask about the maintenance costs. Are those 4 pots on the front? I can imagine servicing not being cheap.

at least there are plenty of renault tuners out there supplying parts. For example on mine the Ktec mild steel OE type exhaust was around 1/4 of the price renault wanted iirc.

Hahha, the guy who owns that car is from Italy, that might excuse his terrible behaviour?

I may well drive souf with some wonga, I wish I knew how to take amazing pictures, just too busy with uni and work to ever fit it in... plus of golf is quite an expensive hobby so it's not going to happen...

yeah they are mate!!

Service costs is something I have looked at, fortunately my dad is a very good mechanic with his own garage which reduces the costs for me. Just the inital cost of parts etc. which is ok I will address them as and when they need sorting...

Believe it or not, the amount of renault tuners actually helped make my decision.

A few months down the line I want to put on a few performance mods, k-tec alone is an awesome company to supply pretty much anything you need!!

I can't wait to pick it up!! Driving me crazy waiting...

Welcome to the world of Nimbus and it rocks.

Only a select few pick this colour, so welcome to the club of elite Matty boy lol.

Good choice, presume its just a FF 197? any optional extras on it?

You can buy the cup calipers which are red anyway pal, thats how you could tell if it was cup or had the cup package on.

No recaro's?

Also expect to be at the pump a few times, they seem be hungry then what my megane is.

Also Matt I have a contact at Reno that does proper Reno parts if you need it.

Im happy to be in the elite!!! Sorry to sound a complete tool what is FF?

It is basically the RS 197 no cup packages etc...

Got the recaros but not the absolute track slag type ones, the nice soft cloth ones hah...

The main thing was getting a minter with low mileage which I have, so I can like you say just buy the red brembos, dampers and springs etc..

Cheers mate the renault friend may come in useful, no doubt I will inbox you time to time asking for advice...

Petrol doesn't worry me, my saxo just recently cost me £30 to travel 130miles... it can't be much worse than that so I am happy with that!!

leeroybrown
9th February 2011, 15:13
Oh it can be worse

FF = Full Fat all the toys no cup packs.

They only do one recaro and its the track slack one, do sounds like it has the stand ones pal.

Sounds like you have plan

197 FF suspension is still decent.

Ohhhh I get it now, all the above is correct mate, I was being numb!!

In a way though I would quite like some luxuries as I have drove round a stripped out saxo for the last 3 years!!

Ohh dear I will have to drive steady if it is a lot worse then, take it they don't get anywhere close to the book figures (35ish i think mpg combined)

Looks nice mate,

but I agree with the use of HDR makes the colour look much different imo, it looks like one of those special colours on Forza rather than a slightly darker shade of silver lol

I like it:)

Stock 197's are supposed to better in nearly all aspects over stock 182's. 182's however have a better BHP/tonne.

STINKYBELLCHEESE

Do like the ep3 but insurance was insance, supercharged would be nice but would be a killer on fuel more so than the 197 by some margin!

u'd be surprised fella - i have another ep3 now gone back to hondas!

21 years old, £890 full comp on a ep3 type r and fuel is quite good when you take it easy but obviously not when caning it

wouldnt supercharge one, but def buy one already supercharged etc (cheaper in long run!)

hahahaha - admiral (paid in one lump sum) 3years NCB 21 years old but a excess of £1000 so i best not bump my civic :y: but even if i did - money back would cover my intial £1000 and it wouldnt take me long to save £1k up so its ok...

BOOBS obviously dont count for much ;)

i also owned a ep3 at 19 with the same company and a mk1 FRS at 20 and never made a claim or got points (touch wood) x

I have low excess on the EP3.

dc2 at 20, quite a feat id say! looked at your progress thread, you ever thought of a skyline / evo 8 / (turbo) as they'd be easier to get bhp out of (cheaper also possibly) than your civic? considering you already have a run about?

just thinking of costs in the long run? will cost you a fair whack over time?

Well safe to say I love the car!! took a couple pics last night I will try and upload but I am at work so depends if I get chance...

At first as it was soo smooth it felt slower than my old vtr, (probably because that was stripped and rugged so felt faster than it was...

After getting used to the smoothness I could tell really just how nippy these things are, bloody love it!!

Took it up to 7500ish rpm last night once down the bypass after about 45mins of driving so it was plenty warm enough and it just pulls through every gear all the way through the rev range...

I found myself changing gear at about 3500rpm and it still shifts and picks up speed through the gears driving like that....

The car has a lovely subtle roaring sound which gets deeper and louder when hitting the higher rev range!!

Couldnt be happier

it's a bit more expensive than a saxo. I know since I had a few, and driven a few others. Other than that you chose a really nice toy, gorgeous colour :y:
