View Full Version : do i repair my car? or just sell it on?

Right, i'll start with the car
its a:
black mk2 vtr
59k on the clocks
52plate
full service history
lowered 60mm
brand new rear beam about a year ago
backbox
de-wipered
one-off custom made rear badges out of nylon
3 months tax
9 months MOT (it had 4 new yokos just before the MOT)
i had an accident on a roundabout which turned out to be not my fault - its been repaired to drivable condition, and has been through and MOT since with no problem
to repair it i've added a gold wing and slam panel and idealy would need a new bonnet and bumper if you wanted it looking top shape - although if i could get hold of a black wing and slam it'd look fine.
i've been given £1450 by the insurance company to get it fixed, should i fix it up and sell it on? or just get rid as it is and take the £1450 and be on my way?
anyway here are some pictures of it

whats it worth to sell it as it is? or would it be worth me getting it repaired then selling it?

true.. but always hard selling a car with things wrong... its hard selling a car thats mint nowadays...
as long as you sell it and plus the cash you had from insurance equals the total price you would want for the car or more then your quids in :)
quite hard to explain tbh lol

yeah i get you.
but could the cost of repairing it be less than the increase on the amount when selling it?
then i could be even more quids in haha

You could fix the cosmetic damage to make the bodywork mint for under £200.
However what's the damage like to the inner wing...

you mean like the chassis leg?
i've had it all checked over and that, the slam was bent in a little but we used a jig and got it back out.
it still drives straight and pulls in a straight line

i've decided to semi-repair this.
i've added a black wing and smartened it up a little
the sale thread is here:

i reckon with a little more effort it'll easily be repaired for under £150, so you're looking at £1500 for a car thats on a 52 plate with 59k on the clocks. i reckon thats fair?
