Police in some areas don't seem to care aslong as it's visible.

i was told by a friend that as long as the plate is visible and that it is infront of the exterior mirrors is legal

yeah but dont forget that when you drive around at night the police will not be able to see the number plate at the front as it has no lights to brighten it up to make it visible.
also i think they look much better there

Front numberplates dont have lights anyway.
Its rear numberplates that have lights.

buy a spare no plate, snap it, through it around the floor, scratch it up, put it in the windscreen/pass foot well then when ya get pulled over say that its fallen off, lol.
i had mine just laying in the footwell for a few months and no coppers battered an eyelid at it

My dad works at a car dealership and they always put the trade plates on the windscreen and never get pulled.

Rear has to be lit up in the dark? so that's probably why.
