Off the top off my head, over £1000 maybe up to as much as £2000.

Have alot of problems with their breathing and joints.

I love them but I also feel sorry for them. Maybe get a rescue?

Doesn't look like they have a particularly long life span either, and a lot seem to suffer from hip dysplacia, which is probably the joint problems you're on about.

Look on wiki mate, lots of info on there, not sure how reliable, but lots of info.

we have one cost us 900 for a pure white bitch with pedigree certificates.

they are excellent with kids and other pet's,they sleep a lot and they are really dumb

joint and breathing problems are caused by in-breeding by bad breeder's the pure white ones often are deaf and blind

other than that get one you will never have a dog that's so loving and caring there more like a best friend than a dog.

would not really advise a rescue one as most have been badly treated and can get vicious when something reminds them of there prior life my dad has a rescue one and also has a 9 inch scar down his leg because the dog flipper when my dad got his golf clubs out to clean them.

dislike them
horrible and boisterous, they cant breathe either
my mates attacked her brother for no reason and had to be put down
considering he lived in a house with 4 under 10 year olds, that could have been a lot lot worse

They are inbred, thats how pedigrees work.

It's humans that have ruined the bulldog TBH and I feel so sorry for them.

They are a bad example of human vanity and cruelty.

I heard something a while back that they were altering the breed standards?

Out of curiousity.. How old are you?

Remember a "dog's for life, not just for Christmas" and that.

Just noticed this thread: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355924
Unless you're settled in your own house, etc, a dog probably isn't right for you just yet. There's next to nowhere you can rent with cats/dogs, you'll have to worry about it if you go on holiday/travelling, etc..

Got one myself a red and white bitch called coco. Shes ace with my little girl who is 9 month old.

They never like to be parted.

Can suffer but often dont friend have had them and had years of problem free heard others have nothing but trouble.

Take a good look round the parents house an how they are and ask about the dad etc.

Heres coco at about 4 to 5month old

i would trust mine with any kids life and with the gf been pregnant mine some how knows not to mess with her or jump up like she use to.

and most good dog breeders don't breed from the same family's but i heard about a few bad ones that use the males with the sister's and so on.

i honestly think its how you bring a dog up if u treat it good they treat you good i would never hit or a dog because i think that's how and why they turn on you and kids.

as the pic shows above if you bring a dog up with a kid it sees it as a brother or sister rather than something to chew on.

My dog has never been hit and has been brought up well, he is awesome and lovely.

I will still never leave him alone with a child be it mine or anyone elses.

thats such a naive thing to say
just because i never hit my dog doesnt mean hes never going to hurt anyone
the picture above shows a dog sat with a baby, the next second baby could grab his tail and dog could grab that baby by the neck and do so much damage if you trust a dog enough to leave it in a room alone.
another example,
my dog could sit on a young child by accident and if no-ones in the room to get him off, he'd kill them, hell, hes nearly stopped me breathing and im a lot bigger than a child.

Well i can tell you first hand i have no prob leaving them togther in a room while i'm in another. My daughter will even wake the dog up in her basket so that she can get in as they are that close.

She cries if i make the dog go in her basket and dont let her go in with her.

My dad has 2 springers used as gun dogs all their life. I' not syaing he beats them half to death, but when they do something wrong they have to know. They have the utmost respect for my dad and I believe this is why.

You serious? He can't even get on the couch or barely climb the stairs because the steps are to high, his entire length nose to tail is shorter than my forearm, he's one dog that you could trust! :p. Honestly not only was he good natured, but even if he wasn't he couldn't fight his way out a paper bag, he was scared of bloody anything.

But it's your call, I agree that's the sensible thing to do, I'm just saying I personally think Frank is an exception :p.

my advice would be read up on the breed first and do your research. then if you do still go for one go to a reputable breeder, not someone whos just doing it for the money.
GET INSURANCE!!!!
you will need it. make sure it is a life time policy as that way that cannot exclude anything when the new policy starts - as the dogs covered for life.
you cannot fiddle pet insurance as when it comes to making a claim they want all previous history. I can recommend PetPlan :)
