After the how to guide on the site I was inspired to turn my filthy cover into a shiny master piece.

It hasn't quite gone to plan though smileys/smiley5.gif :

Before -

It's been sat in a scrapyard for two years so it needs abit of love.

Many sanding hours after:

Although it's an improvement its not quite a chromed as I'd like and has more of scratched look to it then smooth chrome finish:

Have I totally Fu**ed it or do I need to keep sanding?

Cheers

Steve

you need to go over it now with a fine wet and dry paper, then once it's smoothed use metal polish.

How much to chrome the rocker cover if I cant rescue it?

Did the emery cloth get rid of the scratches?

not completely, but it'll look loads better, its got to be real fine emery, then use an aluminium polish. i used peek multi purpose metal polish, looks a treat afterwards.

Its looking good Woodsy!

I picked up some fine grade paper last night and have one of those buffer drill attachemnts type things.

So I'll put a few more hours into getting that mirror finish.

After a few more hours sanding with some proper fine paper the rocker cover has come up lovely and smooth with very few scratches.

It's more stainless steel then chrome but I'm sure with some more effort I can get abit more shine.
