Having decided that I want to rebuild my S1 106 rallye, I have started sorting out a VTR which I had sat at my mates house not doing anything.

It needs Tax & Test.

So the rear beam needs replacing:
Sourced from the reliable Andy_K
Already got good bushes in, only done 60k max. Has been lowered 60mm, which is where i'm stuck as to what to do. I dont know whether to raise the ride height or lower the front to match?! Opinions???

Front disks & pads:
Done now, worked out cheaper to buy mintex which was a nice suprise.

Also to fit:
Uprated anti roll bar bushes, and lower arm bushes.
New drop links.
Both trackrod ends.
Boot for end of steering rack.
Picked all these up from my mate who now works at eurocarparts ;)

The cars bodywork is not perfect really, I cant really show it as the rain hides it nicely. The corners of the bonnet are bent but i should be able to warm them and straighten it without damaging the paint.

Also needs a pair of mirror caps which i will probably paint white to go with the rallye wheels i will fit when the 106 gets put in the garage.

mines dropped 60mm upfront on dampers/springs and 45 on the rear, roads are pretty shit round my end after the snow cut em up but i drive it every day and its fine. even when i hit a pothole at 40 the other day it wasnt bad at all, you've just got to watch out for speed bumps and dodgy driveways, apart from that its gravy

you getting a progress thread for the s1 pal?

I had my last VTR/S like that, thinking just lift the ride hight to standard, saves insurance costs then too

Been out working in the snow today, got the old beam stripped off.

Encountered a couple of issues, so have had to cut one of the handbrake cables as it would not budge and cut the brake lines to the car as they would not move either.

The lack of light, and the cold temp has stopped me so will be back on it tomorrow.

Tomorrows Job List:

Strip a brake line of the old beam to go on the replacement unit.
Bolt shockers onto new beam.
Replace brake lines (or joint them).
Pull cut handbrake cable off and replace with a new one.
New Beam bolted up.
Rallye steels on.

Have decided the car will get lowered after all. I will see what the back end looks like when finished then do the front to match.

Decided to leave the back as it has about 50-60mm drop already and going to see what that looks like and then sort the front to match. Will let you know then, but yeah it should look good I hope cheers :y:. Even if it is just for the daily drive.

It is still a good looking car so you might as well do the little things that will make it look better:y:
