Probably a pointless thread but just looking around at cars and wandering if they are turbo charged or supercharged or is it just jcw models that are boosted

Anyone own one
is there any problems you get with them

i have a 2004 mini cooper s, and upto 2006 they were supercharged mate, then turbo charged, problems if you are looking at a 2002-06 model (r53) then i suggest you check the header tank as they can be overflowing, wheel bearings wear, early models i believe had the midlands box which can cause probelms, dipstick can break, air con can need regassing and the drivers side engine mount can leak but if the mini has FSH then most problems have been delt with,

i reccomend that you go for a 3 piece dash 'facelifted' where most of the early issues have been sorted and cars that have had tlc pack attached plus exhausts standard are expensive 465.00 fitted from the local garage, mini is cheaper at 350 for middle and back

or go for a r56 where turbo means that better mpg is given if about 28mpg around town

other than that fantasic car!

So I'm correct in thinking if I get one around the 02-04 plate it will be supercharged

That's awesome looking around at few different cars but these have taken my liking

Jordysport arent u looking for one also

yea mate thats correct, if i was you id be as close for the 2004 model with chili pack facelifted, better xeons and trim is much nicer, rember though at around the 100k-120k the supercharger begins to have seen better days,

look at mine and then you will see the facelifted trim :)

mine was £5850 about 600 quid cheaper at the time, fsh 45k full chilli pack etc

best place is to find one on ebay and i watched mine for about a month go on on on then pm;d him and it was a done deal next day

I checked my insurance and it is cheaper to insure than my vtr
All I have done is added my brother in law (copper) and now can easily insure one so i think one is on the cards

Hopefully Grey or the light blue

Oh nice, well for me its £1000 on the comparison sites, but when i did my twingo on comparisons it was £700 but i got it down to £400 odd by bargaining, so hopefully £600 for the mini would be good.

Been looking at them today and thinking of getting one but will save a bit more to get a better one near the summer as don't need car ATM

What is the difference between jcw version and cooper s as there is a jcw one I can afford ATM

Supercharged ones carry loads of niggles, id get a turbo one personally..

Both are cool cars though

JCW's should be more expensive as theyre "modded" version with bits added.

The one to have imo is a GP that wing is awesome :D

I do want to save for a turbo one
But a nice jcw one has come up supercharged so worth a look
Does anyone know what bhp they are pushing standard
This one has a milltek exhaust system and lowered

Really? Like what? I've had mine since 07 and it's never missed a beat, at all. Still pulls as hard as it ever did, no rattles or niggles whatsoever.

Awesome cars - I'd say get one if u can, but then I am biased.

This is mine:

Its an S, not a JCW. If you can get a JCW, do it - you wont regret it.
Mine came from BMW as a cherished mini so cost £13k when it was 2 years old. Can get them much cheaper now.

They are 1000x better than a saxo in every way - faster, handles better, more comfortable, endless gadgets, leather, sat-nav, awesome stereo, awesome exhaust note and supercharger whine - list goes on and on. If you are serious about getting one I'd recommend a 'spirited' test drive! :D

Only other things to note is that the run-flat tyres are expensive (can switch to standards though), servicing parts are fairly expensive - you have to use castrol edge 0w30 which isnt cheap, same for plugs, filters etc.

Also fairly thirsty when driving round town but better on a long run (35+mpg on a motorway run). But then its not a car you buy if you are anal about fuel economy. Its considerably worse than my old vtr and vts, used to get £150 miles for £20 from them but lucky to get that from £30 now.

Any other queries give me a shout mate, or if you want particular pictures etc.

Don't know about that. My exs was quicker then a Saxo but not by much. Handling on the other hand the Saxo was far more chuckable and balanced.

A mate used to have 1.Didnt think it was all that fast but the over-all package was outstanding.Handles like a go kart, nice and comfy and the look spot on as standard.

I would be happy with a simple red 1,white 17s like the wheels above and white stripes over the bonnet.
Probably boring and a typical looking Mini, but imo thats what looks the best. Also like the light blue colour.
Off white 1 with colour codes arches etc would be my next choice.

Never owned one but going on hearsay from people that have owned one, not the usual chat down the pub.

One bird in particular i was talking to at the ring said she loved it but was a pain, At the time it had a niggle with the wipers going tits up iirc.
