Winter storms across the Northeast and Midwestern United States have choked the pipeline for commercial automobile parts delivery. In accordance with Car News, numerous auto manufacturing plants across North The United States are running so low on parts and employees who can make it to work that manufacturing schedules have been altered, and in several cases facilities have temporarily turn off as blizzards rage. Shortages on parts with missed shifts due to ice roads

There were later shifts that started still although parts shortages caused 12 Chrysler plants to cancel first shifts. Shortages were seen at Ford Motors factories also. This was as the icy road brought on trucks trying to get the Subaru and Toyota Motors factories to have a difficult time. If the blizzards continue, both Honda and General Motors admit the part shortages could be an issue, although they have not been yet.

Manufacturing is not the problem. Delivery is, in accordance with Neil De Koker who's the CEO of Original Equipment Supplier Association.

“A number of parts are just-in-time delivery and even if you are making parts, if the roads are bad, it's difficult to get it delivered,” he said.

Indiana and OH storms have not had a very good impact on Midwest car plants. The freezing rain has made it especially difficult. Robert Bosch LLC has been just fine though in Charleston, South Carolina, and Farmington Hills, Mich. This is the U.S. arm of parent company Robert Bosch GmhH in Germany. The speed of part delivery depends entirely upon where consumers are located in relation to the blizzards, said company spokeswoman Becky MacDonald.

Catch up with a snow day

Northeast and Midwest blizzards have made going outside tough for everybody, but De Koker told Automotive News that there could be a positive way of looking at the run of extreme winter weather. Production might be something suppliers are behind on. The freeze might actually be good thing considering auto facilities were having part shortages before the storms came.
