A bar I used to manage had a phrase you had to say when you were asked about the high prices. In 2000 it was one of the most expensive bars in Newcastle a Vodka Redbull was nearly £8, which nowadays is nowt, but was crazy back then. You were trained by the owner to say "Our prices are high to attract a higher class of clientele, if you have a problem with the price you are welcome to leave the bar." I was supprised, I only had one person refuse to pay and leave in a year of working there.
Nowadays I'd rather be at a festival or free party than out on the town, which solves this problem.

Club I work in, we rarely sell bottles unless it's a student night and it's on a deal.

Prices where I work are like:

Double VRB = £3 (Student) £6.65 (Normal)
VK = £1.80 (Student) £3.65 (Normal)

Pints are like £3.10 all the time.

Double vodka + mixer is £5.65ish.

Not too bad IMO, especially compared with other places.
