I am looking at replacing my 1.4 with the 1.6 (VTS) and I have found a few for sale but without the gearbox, would I be able to simply transfer the existing gearbox onto the VTS lump or will I need to get hold of a different gearbox? Also do i need a VTS ECU or can I just have my existing 1 remapped?
Thanks in advance :)

Any MA gearbox will fit fine, these are found on any Saxo or 106. Also on a few other certain models.

Yes you need a VTS ECU of the same mk as your car. If you have single plug now, then you will need a single plug VTS ECU same with triple plug.

you need the vts ecu and loom i think. also need the same year engine as the year as your car. any saxo gearbox would fit, but would be slower with a westcoast gearbox

Is that yes my gearbox will fit and ecu can simply be remapped or yes i will need a new Gearbox and ECU?

Nice 1 :) cheers guys, guess its a new gearbox then, seen as I wan the VTS lump 4 speed seems daft to leave the gearbox standard. Does it have to be the same year tho or jus the same mk?

VTS is the best all round box. Westcoast box would give it longer gears, also dosent have the sports gear cluster.

Same MK, not the same year. You will need a single plug as westcoast are MK1.
